    West Ham full back Carl Jenkinson has suffered what is described as a "significant injury".

    Jenkinson, on loan from Arsenal, was hurt as he conceded a penalty during the Hammers 2-2 home draw against Manchester City on Saturday.

    "West Ham can confirm that Carl injured his left knee during the early stages of Saturday’s fixture," said a statement on the website."Unfortunately, it appears that Carl has suffered a significant injury and he will be assessed by a specialist in central London on Wednesday."

    Oldham Athletic need nine more victories if they are to avoid relegation from league One, according to boss John Sheridan.

    The Latics are 23rd in the table and eight points from safety, but Sheridan believes his target is "achievable".

    He told BBC Radio Manchester: "I think if I can get a couple of players in, get them playing the way I want to play in different systems, and trying to get a little bit more out of the players that are here we can do it."

    Defender Jon Flanagan could make his first start since May 2014 on Tuesday as Liverpool attempt to beat Stoke and reach the Capital One Cup final.

    The Reds, who lead 1-0 from the first leg, could be without right-back Nathaniel Clyne (knee), while defender Dejan Lovren is not fully fit and centre-back Steven Caulker is cup tied.

    Stoke will be missing captain Ryan Shawcross (back), but forwards Marko Arnautovic and Bojan Krkic could start.

    Geoff Cameron (ankle) is still not fit.

    So then, there's a rather big Cup game kicking off in a few hours time.

    Jordon Ibe's goal in the semi-final first leg at the Britannia Stadium gives Liverpool the advantage over Stoke heading into the return game at Anfield.

    Reds manager Jurgen Klopp hoping to reach a major cup final less than four months after taking charge of the club.

    But Potters boss Mark Hughes believes his team can turn things around.

    The final is at Wembley on Sunday, 28 February.

    Ryder Cup veteran Sergio Garcia predicts up to five players who will make their debuts in this year's European team.

    "That's the way it looks at the moment," the Spaniard said.

    "You never know as the year goes by, but at the moment it looks like there's probably between three and five young guys that could be on that team in September."

    This year's Ryder Cup will be held at Hazletine, Minnesota, in September, where Garcia is likely to be in the team and aiming for a sixth victory.

    Manuel Pellegrini stresses he will keep rotating his squad, and has urged his side's defenders to avoid sloppy mistakes.

    "If we want to be involved in all the competitions, we need the whole squad," says Pellegrini. "I will try to make some changes and refresh the team. It is the only way to continue.

    "I don't think we are defending badly. At West Ham the first goal was very unlucky. I wasn't happy with the second but the only save Joe Hart had to make was the free-kick.

    "We do need to concentrate more away from home because we are conceding goals."

    We mentioned (13:58) that Sunderland have been linked with a move for Roma and Ivory Coast striker Seydou Doumbia. Well, it could be a busy few days for Sam Allardyce as here is another transfer rumour.

    Sunderland are stepping up their interest in Swansea striker Andre Ayew as manager Sam Allardyce attempts to bolster his squad for the fight against relegation.

    The Black Cats first registered their interest in the 26-year-old Ghana international earlier this month, but were swiftly rebuffed.

    However, PA Sport reports there has been further contact between the clubs, with suggestions of Sunderland making a £10m offer plus Italian striker Fabio Borini

    "It is very close," says Pellegrini. "Nobody can take an important advantage. From now until the end it will be very close. It will take fewer points to win it than previous seasons.

    It was close; very, very close, but according to you Manchester City will win the League Cup this season.

    Manuel Pellegrini's side picked up 37% of the vote, despite needing to overhaul a 2-1 deficit in the second leg of their semi-final against Everton.

    The other options were Liverpool 35.6%, Everton 16.5% and Stoke City 10.9%.

    Chelsea's Ramires is edging closer to what many would consider a surprise £25m move to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning.

    The 28-year-old Brazil midfielder, signed from Benfica for about £17m in 2010, agreed a new four-year deal in October but has only started seven Premier League games this season.

    Jiangsu finished ninth in China's top tier in 2015 and are managed by former Blues defender Dan Petrescu.

    Ramires has helped the Blues win the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League.
