    Former Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson "abused his revered position in society" when he had sexual contact with a 15-year-old fan, a court has heard.

    The 28-year-old, who has 12 England caps, is on trial accused of sexual activity with a child.

    Prosecutors said it was "in a way that he knew was both morally and legally wrong".

    The footballer denies two charges of sexual activity with a girl under 16.

    Italy have made one change to their side for Sunday's Six Nations meeting with England in Rome.

    Australian-born fly-half Luke McLean comes into the starting XV to replace David Odiete after the Mogliano wing suffered a sprained ankle during last weekend's 23-21 defeat to France. 

    Lock George Biagi has recovered from a thigh injury and will start while two potential debutants - Treviso flanker Abraham Steyn and Zebre fly-half Edoardo Padovani - are among the replacements.

    We told you earlier (see 12:05) that Bryan Oviedo was close to signing a new deal with Everton, well, the defender has put pen to paper on a new three-and-a-half year contract to June 2019.

    “I am really happy to commit my future to Everton because this is a special club and, for me, a second home," he tells the club website.

    “When I experienced some really tough times, the toughest of my career, everybody was behind me – the manager, the staff, the players and the fans and that support helped me through and made me stronger, as a person and as a player."

    There is no joy for England's Women after they lose by five wickets to South Africa, external in the second ODI at Centurion so the series is tied at 1-1.

    England made 262-9 in their allotted 50 overs but the home side made 265-5 in 48.5 overs with Lizelle Lee top-scoring on 69 and Trisha Chetty on 65.

    The decider takes place in Johannesburg on Sunday.

    Former Fifa Secretary General Jerome Valcke has been banned from all football-related activity for 12 years.

    The decision has been made by Fifa's independent ethics committee following allegations of potential misconduct related to sales of World Cup tickets. Valcke has also been fined 100,000 Swiss francs (about £70,800).

    A statement from Fifa's Ethics Committee, external said: "The adjudicatory chamber found that a sports marketing firm had gained an undue advantage from the selling of World Cup tickets. Not only did Mr Valcke do nothing to stop these activities, he encouraged the persons responsible to do so."

    The statement added that Valcke had "travelled at Fifa's expense purely for sightseeing reasons" and by doing so had "acted against Fifa's best interests and caused considerable financial damage to Fifa".
