    Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will be facing the cameras later on Friday, before his side's meeting against Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.

    The Dutchman's future at the club is in doubt and BBC Sport understands talks have taken place between them and Jose Mourinho.

    So does Van Gaal feel let down by these reports? It appears not.

    "I don’t know if Manchester United have spoken with Mourinho or not," he told the Independent, external in an exclusive interview.

    “I can only say that I have spoken with [United’s executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward and I cannot imagine that they have spoken with each other. I think that if they speak with another manager, they would tell me because our relationship is like that. 

    "But I think that, if they want to change, they have to prepare themselves. That is also a professional attitude, in my opinion.”

    Eddie Howe has refused to be drawn on criticism levelled at striker Benik Afobe from Wolves after he left Molineux last month to move to Bournemouth in a £10m deal

    Wolves head of recruitment Kevin Thirlwell accused Afobe of not trying and chief executive Jez Moxey claimed he did not want to play for the club. 

    "What happened with Benik and Wolves is their story," insists Howe, who has seen Afobe score three goals since his arrival. "It's nothing to do with us. I'd rather talk about the future.

    "Benik has made a huge impression, he's got a great work ethic and has handled everything really well."
