If Jamie Vardy had anything other than England on his mind during that training session in Chantilly then he was disguising it brilliantly.

As Leicester City and Arsenal wait for his decision to either sign a new, improved deal at The King Power Stadium or move to The Gunners after a £22m deal was agreed, the striker was in buoyant mood as England went through a work-out in front of locals invited along to witness the preparations for Euro 2016 at close quarters.

Is the fact Vardy has yet to commit to Arsenal a bad sign for manager Arsene Wenger? Who knows? It was a dilemma that did not seem to be troubling Vardy this morning.

Northern Ireland fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Michael O'Neil has been speaking about Norwich striker Kyle Lafferty who limped out of training earlier.

"He's fine, it was precautionary - there are no major concerns there," said O'Neil.

"It was a little twist but on examination we don't expect any issues at all."

Neymar fraud allegationspublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 7 June 2016

    Football

Spanish prosecutors have called for Brazil and Barcelona football star Neymar to be tried for fraud.

The prosecutors, from Spain's top criminal court, allege Neymar and his father hid the true value of the player's multi-million-euro transfer from Santos to Barcelona.

A Brazilian investment fund that owned 40% of Neymar's sports rights argues it was deprived of its full share.

In previous interviews, Neymar, 24, has denied any wrongdoing.

Barcelona said it paid €57m (£43m) for Neymar in 2013, with the player's parents, Neymar da Silva Santos and Nadine Goncalves da Silva Santos, receiving €40m and his former club, Santos, €17m.

But investigators say the fee was closer to €83m and Barcelona concealed part of the deal. The club also denies any wrongdoing.

"England's first full training session is done here in Chantilly - but it was more of a diplomatic exercise than an insight into any strategies manager Roy Hodgson will employ in Euro 2016.

"In a now customary move, it was a chance to introduce themselves to the locals here, allowing hundreds of children into the session, and to settle into their surroundings while also carrying out a charm offensive.

"And in that context it was highly successful, with the England party receiving a very warm welcome as they went through their paces in baking temperatures."

England striker Daniel Sturridge has just been speaking to the media in Chantilly, and has been talking up the Three Lions' chances of doing well at Euro 2016.

"Look at Manchester United and other club sides that have had young squads and had a gelling period and been successful and I believe we can do that.

"This is a young squad. That is a strength not a weakness."

Asked if England are favourites, he added: "I think that is down to everyone else to decide. We don't focus too much on that, we focus on what we can do and the games ahead."

Finally, Sturridge talks about World Cup 2014, when England went out at the group stages: "You look at players' mentalities and they bounce back. Not just for the national team but club level also. We know what we have to do, we know there will be a lot of eyes on us but it is important for us to enjoy it. I think we will enjoy the occasion and thrive on the occasion and that is what it is all about."
