"In October, before the game  [won 4-0 by Chelsea],  I was sure of facing a great team. It's the same now. Manchester United have, together with [Manchester] City, the best squad in the league," said Conte.

"We have a good identity. We are showing good football, but for sure it will be a really tough game against a good team.

"I hope to be favourites, but to show this on the pitch, not only in the words. The facts are on the pitch. We must talk during the game on the pitch, not before. I prefer to focus on the game, and my players to speak with facts."

Manchester City hold the advantage in their Champions League last-16 tie after winning a thrilling first game 5-3.

Gordon Strachan insists his Scotland side "must win" their next World Cup qualifier at home to Slovenia as he announces his squad.

Celtic's Stuart Armstrong, Bournemouth's Ryan Fraser and Tom Cairney of Fulham are all among the call-ups.

Scotland face Canada in a friendly on 22 March at Easter Road before hosting Slovenia on 26 March.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has been charged by the Football Association after being sent to the stands during the Owls' 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday.

Carvalhal has until 6pm on 16 March to respond to the "improper conduct" charge.

Watch as Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare says there are "no grudges" between him and former manager Claudio Ranieri.

The Italian, who guided the Foxes to the Premier League title last season with Shakespeare as his assistant, was sacked after Leicester lost 2-1 at Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League last -16 tie.

Shakespeare has had two games in temporary charge - winning them both - and has now been given the manager's job on a permanent basis up to the end of the season.

Rangers chairman David King could face a bill of up to £12m after a ruling on how he took charge of the Ibrox club.

He could now be liable to buy all the shares in the holding company Rangers International Football Club, held by other shareholders - at 20p a share.

The Takeover Appeal Board (Tab) made the ruling after deciding he worked in "concert" with three others when he bought the shares.

Mr King said he did not agree with the ruling or the share price.

Meet some of the players trying to form a Scotland-wide league for amputee football.

Already there are plans for the first amputee football Scottish Cup in Edinburgh next month.  

Alex Nash: Bristol City would be down and out without Tammy Abraham's goals this year! He has simply been sensational.

Stu Fennell: Jonathan Kodija, the only, I repeat only, goal scorer we have. AVFC would be relegated otherwise.

Jay McCulla: Craig Cairns for Runcorn Town he has 45 goals this season, broke a club record at the weekend.

A quick glance at Runcorn Town's website shows Cairns has played 34 times and scored 45 goals, picking up 10 man of the match awards. Not too shabby. Runcorn play in the North West Counties League Premier Division - the ninth tier of English football.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of the FA Cup quarter-final at Chelsea, leaving his side without a recognised striker. 

Rooney collided with Phil Jones in training and misses out with a leg injury, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic begins a three-game ban for  elbowing Bournemouth's Tyrone Mings.  Forwards Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford [illness] are also missing.

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has a fully-fit squad at his disposal.

New Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has faced the media today.

He said: "When I work with one team the players that complete that squad are always the best. The players can have a better version than what is happening and I believe the players can do well until the end of the season.

"I propose to know the club from top to bottom, know the players deeply - they are the main actors - and to know the competition. I need to know the opponents and respect the opponents."

Rangers are third in the Scottish Premiership, 33 points behind leaders Celtic and Caixinha is asked how he will close the gap on Celtic.

"By a lot of work," added Caixinha. "Football is not only about work. The main actors from this business are the footballers so we will need some investment."

Leicester are 2-1 down going into tomorrow's home Champions League last-16 second leg tie against Sevilla, but new Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare thinks his side still have a chance of winning the competition outright.

A Russian doctor has been banned for life from any involvement in athletics.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) said "clear evidence" showed Dr Sergei Portugalov doped athletes.

A 2015 World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) report said he was "very active in the conspiracy to cover up athletes' positive tests in exchange for a percentage of their winnings".

"As a consequence, a lifetime period of ineligibility has been imposed," Cas said.
