Pardew not in Norwich job runningpublished at 10:29 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2017

    Football

Alan Pardew is not in the running to become the new Norwich City manager, BBC Radio Norfolk understands.

Former Crystal Palace and Newcastle boss Pardew, 55, had been linked with replacing Alex Neil who was  sacked by the Championship club  on Friday.

Canaries caretaker boss Alan Irvine said after the weekend's 2-2 draw with Blackburn he expected to still be in charge against Barnsley on Saturday.

Chairman Ed Balls said Neil's sacking was the start of  "big changes".

Norwich are also expected to announce some more changes this week, having been without a chief executive since Jez Moxey left last month.

    Pat Murphy
    5 live Sport

Derby County hope to announce a new manager within the next 48 hours, as they focus on those who are out of work, in their desire for a swift appointment.

Gary Rowett - who lives locally and played for the club in the Premier League 20 years ago - is the overwhelming favourite. He's been out of work since being sacked by Birmingham City last December.

Mark Warburton who recently left Glasgow Rangers is interested in the job but Rowett has been on the radar of owner Mel Morris for some time. He considered an approach for Rowett last October before appointing Steve McClaren for the second time.

The new man in charge would be Derby's fifth manager in just 13 months.
