Cavani considers Napoli returnpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 8 May 2017

    Football

Edinson Cavani has been a regular in the BBC Sport Gossip Column for some time, but the Paris St Germain striker says he could return to former club Napoli after his contract with the Ligue 1 club ends in 2020.

The Uruguay international, capped 91 times by his country, renewed his contract with PSG in April and has scored a record 128 goals in 195 competitive games for the club.

"After PSG I don't know what will happen but if I will want to change team I may choose to return to Napoli and then go back home," he says.

"I don't want to go back home when I will be too old, I would like to retire when I decide so rather than football leaving me."

    'I don't think he really believes he's British'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 8 May 2017

More from Dan Evans, explaining his stance on Slovenia-born Aljaz Bedene, who was granted British citizenship in March 2015.

"It's nothing to do with Aljaz - I like him, he's not confrontational in any way but to me it doesn't sit well if you play for another country," Evans told BBC Sport after his defeat at the Madrid Open today.

"I don't feel bad about him, but for me it's a bit baffling as to why. And now he lives in Slovenia as well - I don't think he really believes he's British either. It's just the citizenship rule, where he's lived here for five years. It's just a bit different, isn't it?"

What has been your club's lowest moment?

Luc Jones: Plymouth Argyle going into administration and then were one game away from becoming a non-league club. It's been a long battle but finally we now seem to be (more or less) heading in the right direction.

Shelagh Burke: Constant points deductions at Bournemouth because of debts, supporters dipping in their pickets to save the club and ending up in League Two and nearly getting relegated out of the football league when it went down to the last game of the season. That is why l am enjoying where we are at the moment.

Will Tottie: Norwich getting relegated to League One and then losing 7-1 at home to Colchester on the opening day of the season. A few days later we poached their manager Paul Lambert, and got back to back promotions to the Premier League. Incredible really.

Boro face fortress at the Bridgepublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 8 May 2017

Chelsea v Middlesbrough (Monday, 20:00 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 live

More on tonight's 5 live commentary match at Stamford Bridge, where leaders Chelsea are seeking a 13th Premier League home win in 14 attempts.

It's quite simple for Middlesbrough - lose and you're down, for what would be a record-equalling fourth time in the Premier League.

While Antonio Conte's side have taken 81 points from 34 matches, equalling the final tally by champions Leicester last term, Boro have 28 points with three games remaining and the fewest points won by a team to avoid relegation from the Premier League is 34, set by West Brom in 2004-05.

Simi Singh, who may well be my new favourite name in cricket, has been selected in the Ireland squad for the Tri-Nations series against Bangladesh and New Zealand, which starts on Friday at Malahide.

The 30-year-old Leinster Lightning spinning all-rounder, who gained Irish citizenship last month, replaces Andy McBrine in the only change to the squad originally selected for the England ODI series, which Ireland lost 2-0.

A statement released by British Eventing on Monday said 40-year-old sustained a TBI (traumatic brain injury) when falling from her horse at the third fence.

"The doctors are pleased with her progress," British Eventing said. "She remains under sedation.

"We would like to say a huge thank you to Badminton's medical team for their efficient and very caring service, also to the staff in the intensive care unit at Southmead."

    Football

Blackburn's director of football and operations Paul Senior has resigned less than 24 hours after the club's relegation to League One, and only 123 days on from his appointment.

Rovers dropped down into the third tier of English football for the first time since 1980 - becoming the first Premier League champions to drop down to tier three - as wins for Birmingham and Nottingham Forest rendered their own win at Brentford redundant.

What has been your club's lowest moment

Anonymous: Bognor Regis Town only needed to beat lowly Met Police to win the Ryman League title because narrow leaders Havant had drawn their final game. But we could only draw with the Police.

But from the depths of that despair there was jubilation only a few days later when we went up via the play-offs, beating our old adversaries Dulwich to go up to the Conference South. The completely contrasting emotions of football.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp won't face any further action over his bottle throwing antics at Anfield yesterday.

Annoyed at a decision by referee Robert Madley during the 0-0 draw with Southampton, a clearly furious Klopp threw the his water bottle on the ground in disgust.

It brought back memories of Jose Mourinho kicking a water bottle at Old Trafford earlier this season which earned the Manchester United manager a touchline ban.

However, unlike in that instance, the Football Association do not feel Klopp's actions had the potential to cause a problem and will not be taking the matter any further.

Dodd loses place on Fifa Councilpublished at 13:16

    Football

Australia's Moya Dodd has failed to regain her place as Asian football's female representative on the Fifa Council after she lost a vote 27-17 to Bangladeshi Mahfuza Akhter Kiron.

Former Australia international and practising lawyer Dodd served on world football's executive body as an appointed member between 2013 and 2016.

During that time, the 52-year-old made her mark as a strong champion for women in football and reform of the sport's tainted governance structure. That track record, however, counted for little in Bahrain on Monday when the Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) 27th Congress opted instead for Kiron, of whom little is known outside her native country.

The vote came down to a head-to-head between the two when North Korean candidate Han Un Gyong and Palestine's Susan Shalabi Molano withdrew.

What has been your club's lowest moment?

Doug Johnston: There have been many for Leeds. Having to pay Robbie Fowler to leave the club, going into administration, being relegated from the Premier league, the play-off final defeat to Watford, being relegated from the Championship and the FA Cup defeat to Histon. But there is one that stands out: the League One play-off final defeat to Doncaster Rovers (pictured). That almost made me lose faith in football.

Greg Cook: Sheffield Wednesday - being a day/hours away from falling into administration & nearly ceasing to exist, that & not being able to beat nine-man Yeovil Town on a Tuesday night at home. Awful times, glad things are looking up.

Thomas Blick: I think my lowest point as a Reading fan was when we lost at home to Norwich in the last ever game at Elm Park in 1998. It was an awful game and we were relegated that season too.

PAOK fail with appeal against leaderspublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 8 May 2017

    Football

It was an ambitious plan to win the league but second-place PAOK lost an appeal at the Greek federation that paves the way for Olympiakos to be officially named champions.

PAOK had requested that Olympiakos be docked six points for violence during last month's Greek Cup semi-final first leg against AEK Athens.

Had the decision gone PAOK's way they would have been declared champions because the season ended last week with Olympiakos six points in front but with PAOK having a better head-to-head record.

A final decision on whether Olympiakos will officially be declared champions will be made by the Super League.

New Zealander Andrew Nicholson completed quite a comeback yesterday when won the Badminton Horse Trials on Sunday for the first time at the 37th attempt - 18 months after breaking his neck in a fall.

"Of course, I knew I would win Badminton one day - I just didn't know when," said Nicholson, who first competed at Badminton in 1984.

"Nereo is a truly amazing horse. The amount of big events he's done year after year is unbelievable," the six-times Olympian added. "It's been worth the wait. I've won big events before but this just feels so different."
