    It's not been a great first half of 2017 for the world number one Andy Murray...

    But in his latest BBC Sport column, he says he can improve in time for the second round of Roland Garros this week....

    "It's been a frustrating start to 2017 but hopefully the illness and injury problems are finally behind me just in time for some of the biggest tournaments of the year.

    "I'm still coughing my way around Roland Garros as I get over the effects of my latest bout of sickness - the more I talk, the more I want to cough - but I felt fine during my match on Tuesday and happy to get through to the second round."

    Margaret Court has said "tennis is full of lesbians", following a row over her earlier remarks on gay marriage.

    Australian Court, a 24-time Grand Slam singles champion and now a Christian pastor, also said that transgender children were the work of "the devil".

    The 74-year-old caused controversy when she said she would not fly on Qantas "where possible" in protest at its support of same-sex marriage.

    As they announced yesterday, Bournemouth have signed keeper Asmir Begovic from Premier League champions Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.

    New Zealand captain Kieran Read says he is confident he will be fit to play in the first Test against the British and Irish Lions.

    The number eight is recovering from a fractured thumb and faces a race to be available for the opener on 24 June.

    "I'm confident. I'll back the medical team, but it should be all right," Read told BBC Sport.

    "At the end of next week I'll be out of a cast, so should be good to go in a few weeks after that."

    If you're wondering what was going on in that last post, we can explain.

    When you are a British and Irish Lion you can't skip straight to passport control and baggage collection, despite travelling 11,500 miles around the world.

    Instead Warren Gatland, Sam Warburton and the rest of the squad were given a traditional Maori welcome as they arrived in Auckland this morning.

    And after a haka and a traditional Maori challenge, the players surprised their hosts by performing a stirring rendition of the Welsh hymn "Calon Lan".

    Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez has announced he wants to leave the club.

    The 26-year-old, who joined from French club Le Havre for a reported £400,000 in 2014, said he had agreed "to stay for another season" following "a good discussion with the chairman" after the Foxes won the Premier League last year.

    But he added he was "fiercely ambitious" and had "informed the club I feel now is the time to move on."

    Mahrez, PFA player of the year in 2016, made 48 Foxes appearances this season.
