Mylo: Not my money. As long as he does his job, who cares? Money irrelevant in football. But for those that care, £50m is now cheap.

    Theo CampbellImage source, Rex Features

Those watching ITV's anthropological version of Planet Earth, aka Love Island, might have noticed an athlete by the name of Theo joined the housemates.

This Theo is 400m runner Theo Campbell. The 25-year-old sprinter reached the 400m final at the British Athletics World Championships Team Trials in Birmingham last weekend.

He also appeared for Great Britain's 4x400m relay team at this year’s IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas.

However, according to the Mirror, the 6ft 5in sprinter did not tell British Athletics he would be entering Love Island.

"British Athletics was unaware of Theo Campbell’s participation in this reality TV show.

"With the IAAF World Championships in London just a month away, we would expect all those in contention for selection to be 100% focused on their training and preparations to compete against the world’s best athletes."

Team GB’s men’s 4x400m relay team will finally be awarded their overdue Olympic bronze medals from Beijing at the Anniversary Games in London this weekend.

The team moved up from fourth to third after Russia's Denis Alekseyev failed a drugs test when his sample was retested.

Team member Martyn Rooney, 30, told BBC Radio 5 live last month: "I don't want to be distracted. I need to go to the World Championships and focus on that, so if we could get it done at the Diamond League, I'd love that.

"There's no way of getting back to Beijing and doing it that way, but if we can go to an Olympic stadium and be in front of a British crowd, that would be amazing.

"But whatever happens, whenever it happens, I just can't wait to get on that podium."
