    Manchester United have agreed a fee in the region of £75m for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

    United are understood to have been pursuing Lukaku for most of the summer.

    They now will not be pursuing their interest in Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

    The move for Lukaku is not connected to talks aimed at taking Wayne Rooney to Everton.

    United hope to conclude the deal by Sunday.

    Germany have returned to the top of the Fifa rankings for the first time since being knocked off the top spot exactly two years ago.

    The newly crowned Confederations Cup champions have overtaken Brazil and leapfrogged Argentina.

    England stay put in 13th, Wales are down seven places in 20th and Northern Ireland are up six places to 22nd. Scotland, meanwhile, go up three spots to 58th.

    What would be the most appropriate songs for footballers to sing at their hypothetical initiations?

    Burnley have agreed a fee that could reach £3m for Stoke City’s Republic of Ireland forward Jon Walters.

    Walters, 33, has spent seven years at Stoke, scoring 43 goals in 226 Premier League appearances.

    Burnley had one offer turned down last week.

    Walters still has a year left on his contract but is thought to be keen to link up with Burnley manager Sean Dyche.

    The early edition of The Guardian reportsBritish and Irish Lions head coach Warren Gatland has named an unchanged side for the deciding Test against New Zealand.

    It means they will field the same starting XV in consecutive Tests for the first time since 1993.

    Sam Warburton again captains the side from the blind-side flank.

    Victory on Saturday at Eden Park - where New Zealand have not lost since 1994 - would give the Lions only their second ever series win in New Zealand.

    BBC Sport's Simon Stone believes the 24-year-old was on a list of forward options Mourinho gave to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward before the end of last season.
