Former Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has joined League One Peterborough United on a two-year deal.

The 31-year-old centre-back ended last season at Ipswich, playing three games in the Championship before injury cut short his brief spell.

Taylor made 268 appearances for the Magpies during 12 years at St James' Park and was twice called up by England without making his debut.

Jose Mourinho was asked to compare his new striker Romelu Lukaku to the former Ivory Coast international, who scored 157 goals in 341 appearances during his first spell at Chelsea, winning three Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Mourinho wasn't having any of it, saying of the £75m signing: "I don't compare, I don't compare at all. One has his history and one is still in the beginning of his history."

Well, this isn't going well for the Premier League champions.

Franck Ribery is given plenty of space to run up the left flank, he floats the ball in and it falls to Thomas Muller, who volleys home past Thibaut Courtois to give Bayern a two-goal cushion.

I take that back. Five minutes gone, and Bayern lead!

Rafinha picks up the ball in space, about 25 yards out, and drives home into the bottom corner. It doesn't have much power but he found the right spot.

Bayern are camped inside the Chelsea half, trying to find an early opening.

Javi Martinez floats a ball in over the top, trying to find a team-mate in the box, but the Chelsea defence - set up as a back three - clear the danger.

Five minutes gone, no goals.

Adam Smith has committed his future to Bournemouth by signing another four-year deal.

The full-back had already agreed a long-term contract last year, but he's earned himself another extension.

"There is nowhere else I want to be at the moment," he told the club website.

There's A LOT of noise in the National Stadium in Singapore.

The booming PA system blasts out musical fanfares as the players come out on to the pitch and the house beats kick in as we prepare for kick-off.

Please tell me there won't be goal music...None of that nonsense.

The Blues' new club record signing Alvaro Morata is on the bench against Bayern.

The Spain international, 24, joined up with his new team-mates this week after completing a £60m move from Real Madrid.

Morata scored 20 goals last season and won La Liga and the Champions League, but the majority of his appearances were as a substitute.

Full-back Juan Bernat is absent for Bayern Munich after undergoing ankle surgery on torn ligaments.

The 24-year-old Spaniard was substituted after 31 minutes in defeat by AC Milan last Saturday and he returned from the tour to have the surgery in Germany.

Spanish sports publication Marca , externalreport that French champions Monaco have accepted Real Madrid's 180m euros offer for their 18-year-old forward Kylian Mbappe.

They say the France international's fee will be split - "160m euros up front with 20m euros worth of add-ons".

Mbappe came to prominence last season as his speed, guile and instinct in front of goal - which saw him score 24 times - lit up French football and the Champions League.

Bayern’s summer campaign began at the start of July, with wins over BCF Wolfratshausen FSV Erlangen-Bruck, Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen.

But they've not enjoyed the same form in the International Champions Cup so far. The Bundesliga champions drew 1-1 with Arsenal, with the Gunners winning 3-2 on penalties, and they were beaten 4-0 by AC Milan on Saturday.

Chelsea opened their tour of Asia with a 3-0 win over London and Premier League rivals Arsenal in Beijing.

Michy Batshuayi scored twice to add to Willian's opener at the Bird's Nest Stadium - where the Olympics were held in 2008.

But it wasn't all good news for the Blues. Pedro suffered multiple facial fractures in a collision with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina and has returned to London. He is expected to be back in training next week.

Kenedy won't be in the squad for the remainder of Chelsea's tour - he's been sent home.

It comes after the Brazilian made offensive social media comments before a match in China.

The club had "solemnly and sincerely" apologised after fans accused the 21-year-old of xenophobia and racism over comments made in Instagram posts before a 3-0 pre-season win over Arsenal.

Kenedy, who was booed by fans at the game, also later apologised.

But he will now return from Singapore.

The tournament is being played in Singapore for the first time this year, and it kicks-off today with English champions Chelsea against German title holders Bayern Munich.

Bayern will then play Inter Milan on Thursday, before the Italian club face Chelsea on Saturday.

Former Swans and Spain forward Michu has confirmed his retirement.

The 31-year-old, who also played for Oviedo and Ray Vallecano, isn't able to continue playing because of injury.

In a heartfelt letter posted on social media, the Spaniard said he had enjoyed 'magical moments' and that he did 'nothing to deserve' the public's adulation.

Michu signs off by saying "endless thanks to you, my friend, I will always be in debt with you. Always yours."
