    Swansea have rejected a £40m bid from Premier League rivals Everton for Iceland international Gylfi Sigurdsson.

    The Swans want £50m for the 27-year-old. Sigurdsson didn't travel with the club for their summer tour of the United States, and has since been training with their under-23 side.

    Monday's offer is the first Everton have made for the midfielder, while Leicester City have also made an unsuccessful bid for him this summer.

    Women's Euro 2017

    The Netherlands have reached the last eight of Women's Euro 2017 with victory over Belgium, and Denmark joined them by beating 2013 finalists Norway.

    The Dutch hosts progress to the quarter-finals as Group A winners, with three wins from three.

    Denmark will play the winners of Group B in Rotterdam on Saturday, while the Netherlands will meet the runners-up in Doetinchem.

    Two of Sweden, holders Germany and Russia will progress from Group B, which concludes on Tuesday.

    Wolves have completed the signing of Portugal Under-21 international Diogo Jota on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid.

    The 20-year-old attacking midfielder spent last season on loan at Portuguese side Porto, where he played under Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

    And in case you missed it last night, former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has joined West Ham from Bayer Leverkusen for £16m.

    World Championships in Budapest

    Another day and another world record for the unbeatable Adam Peaty.

    The British swimmer sliced more than three-tenths of a second off his own 50m breaststroke world record in the heats at the World Championships this morning.

    It is the third time Peaty has held the record in the 50m. He also holds the top 10 times in the world in the 100m breaststroke.

    He goes again in the semi-finals later today.

    Reigning long jump champion Greg Rutherford has withdrawn from next month's World Championships in London because of an ankle injury.

    Briton Rutherford, who won Olympic gold at London 2012 prior to claiming the world title in Beijing in 2015, said he was "truly gutted".
