    Ousmane Dembele

Barcelona completed a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Ousmane Dembele for an eyewatering £96.8m, potentially rising to £135.5m.

The 20-year-old France international signed a five-year contract at the Nou Camp on Monday.

The deal is the second most expensive of all time, eclipsed only by Neymar's recent £200m move to Paris St-Germain.

Barca said Dembele's contract has a release clause of 400m euros (£369.6m).

  4. Arsenal in crisispublished at 10:00 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    BBC Radio 5 live

Arsenal are in "crisis from top to bottom" and manager Arsene Wenger should leave, according to former Gunners striker Ian Wright.

Arsenal's 4-0 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday left them with one win from their first three Premier League games.

"It's an absolute nightmare," said Wright, who scored 128 goals for Arsenal.

"Why can't we get the players to play for us? Wenger carries the can," said Wright.

Everton are hoping to agree a deal worth about £10m for Hajduk Split's teenage forward Nikola Vlasic.

The 19-year-old is a Croatia Under-21 international and can play in both midfield and attack.

He impressed Everton manager Ronald Koeman and director of football Steve Walsh in their recent Europa League qualifying tie with Hajduk.

Koeman is intent on signing a high-profile striker and left-sided defender before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Liverpool are prepared to test Monaco's resolve to keep midfielder Thomas Lemar with a club record offer of about £60m before Thursday's transfer deadline, BBC Sport understands.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the 21-year-old and while no official bid has yet been tabled, there is definite interest from Anfield.

Sky Sports, external report the Reds have already had two bids - the latest being £65m - rejected for the France international.

  7. Keita = two in onepublished at 09:30 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

Earlier this month, Naby Keita was described by Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel as being like "two players". He is right.

While Liverpool won't be able to get away with playing with 12 men, as Heidel joked at the time, he does effectively play two positions at the same time.

He is both a number eight and a number 10 in that he wins plenty of tackles and has that wonderful ability to emerge with the ball when it looks almost impossible to do, and at the same time his dribbling skills are reminiscent of Sadio Mane. He will pick apart a defence with a clever through ball too.

It's pointless to talk about whether he is worth the club record fee. It is 2017 and these days buying a footballer is no different to buying a house - they are worth what someone is willing to pay.

The concept of purchasing someone you won't be able to play for a year is alien to the Premier League, but it is commonplace in Germany.

I suspect Jurgen Klopp will have had no qualms with it and the former Borussia Dortmund manager will have been one of the key factors in Liverpool getting their man.

  8. Keita confirmedpublished at 09:22 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Liverpool

Earlier this morning, Liverpool confirmed a deal to sign RB Leipzig's Naby Keita, with the midfielder moving to Anfield in July 2018.

The Reds have agreed to pay the £48m release clause that will allow the 22-year-old to move next summer, plus an undisclosed premium.

Keita had been one of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's primary targets this summer, but Leipzig refused to sell.

The deal surpasses the record £35m paid to Newcastle for Andy Carroll in 2011.
