One story that has popped up during lockdown and seems to be intriguing people is the potential return to boxing of Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield.

We know Holyfield is set to fight in charity bouts and while Tyson has intimated he has the same desire, some are questioning if the pair have their eyes on joining the professional circuit again.

"There's so many different thoughts and ways to think about this," says current British heavyweight Dillian Whyte.

"If they want to do something for charity in an exhibition match, that's fine. But as long as they keep it like that and don't try to get back in the professional ring.

"Because what it does, it diminishes all of their hard work they've done over the years. It's like 'you're in your fifties now, just relax, enjoy your success and enjoy your retirement'.

"They might get hurt, you know?"

  2. 'Ready to go'published at 11:00 British Summer Time 14 May 2020

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Reading midfielder Charlie Adam has told BBC Radio 5 Live he is "ready to go" for the potential return of Championship football.

“Obviously there’s a process on how it has to be done and everybody has to be abide by rules and get it in place before we can even think about moving it, so I think we’re probably a couple of weeks away from at least getting together again," he said.

"There’s so much at risk because if one situation goes wrong and something does happen then it’s going to be a massive backlash so whatever has to be done has to be 100% ready and right for the players and the staff that are involved and then we’ll move from there.

"On a personal level I’m happy to go and to trust the people at our club that everything will be in place and we’ll be safe and well.”

  3. Former world champion to compete after wi-fi woepublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 14 May 2020

    Darts

Two-time world champion Gary Anderson is to compete in the PDC Home Tour after fixing a broadband problem.

The 'Flying Scotsman' will compete on Saturday in the tournament, where players are filmed at home on their mobile phones.

He competes in a group alongside Belgian duo Dimitri Van den Bergh and Kim Huybrechts, and Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Anderson was initially ruled out due to a slow internet speed at his home.

But after resolving the issue he will take part in the event, which is featuring more than 100 PDC tour card holders playing from their own homes.

World champion Peter Wright and world number three Gerwyn Price, who were beaten earlier in the event, have been invited back to compete again in the final group games.

British horse racing chiefs are planning top-level action soon after the sport returns with the season's opening two Classics pencilled in for the first weekend in June.

Racing has been suspended in Great Britain since 17 March because of the coronavirus crisis, but it is hoped the action can resume behind closed doors on 1 June if given government approval.

Under a provisional programme, the 2,000 Guineas would take place on Saturday 6 June, with the 1,000 Guineas a day later.

The major early races would be open to international contenders, although details of any quarantine arrangements have yet to be announced.

Royal Ascot remains on the calendar for 16 to 20 June, but the meeting's exact schedule is likely to change and the Queen is not expected to attend for the first time in her 68-year reign.

  5. 'I'm an asthmatic'published at 09:38 British Summer Time 14 May 2020

    Football

Derby County defender Curtis Davies has been speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme about the possibility of training in face masks.

"It is going to be strange, but I believe, if we want to get back to football, we're going to have to accept it," he said.

"Most of us players are obviously fit, but it's totally different to being fit and running around with nothing on your face to running around the pitch with a mask.

"I'm an asthmatic myself. I'm sure there's others out there. So depending on what your breathing is like, that'll be an interesting thing moving forward."
