A whopping 75% of Leyton Orient season ticket holders have opted to donate a potential refund back to the club amid the season's curtailment.

Orient chairman Nigel Travis thanked fans for their efforts in a video message.

Ipswich Town owner Marcus Evans has said they are disappointed that the League One season will not be continuing.

The club, who miss out on a play-off spot, previously indicated they wished to play on this season but now face another campaign in England's third tier.

“Obviously we are very disappointed that [continuing the season] will now not be happening," he said., external

“Personally I think there were other safe alternatives to the way things have worked out, certainly with so many clubs in with a chance of finishing in the Play-Off places if the season had continued.

“A decision had to be made though and while we don’t agree with the outcome, we do fully understand that the cost of finishing the season for many clubs was prohibitive."

Doncaster Rovers, who finished ninth in the League One table following today's curtailment, have said they respect the decision to bring the regular season to an end.

In a statement, external they say: "The health of all individuals associated with the football club - fans, players and staff alike - is of paramount importance.

!We respect the decision made collectively by League One clubs and welcome the clarity that has now been provided following the vote.!

The club also say that they have worked to 'plan for every eventuality' since the season was halted in March.

Portsmouth chief executive Mark Catlin says there is "disappointment" over the way the League One season has ended.

Kenny Jackett's side finished fifth in the table following today's curtailment and will now face Oxford in the play-offs.

“There is a slight feeling of disappointment because we were committed to finishing the season on the pitch," Catlin said., external

"We’ve got a shot of getting to the Championship and the lads are pumped up, so we have to grasp the opportunity with both hands."

"Our fans deserve this, our players deserve this, our staff deserve this, our Football Club deserves this."

It's fair to say Coventry City are pretty pleased this afternoon after they celebrated a return to the Championship for the first time since 2012 after they were declared League One champions.

In a statement, the Sky Blues said:, external "Our celebrations are tinged with sadness for all those who have lost their lives, and our gratitude is with all of the carers and key workers for their incredible efforts and dedication during this unprecedented time."

A live streamed promotion party is now being planned by the club, who have urged fans not to congregate and adhere to the government's social distancing guidelines.

At the other end of League One, Bolton Wanderers have said they will issue a detailed response to their relegation and thanked their supporters., external

Wanderers now face the prospect of playing in English football's fourth tier for only the second time in their history.

Relegation is the conclusion of a turbulent campaign for the club off the field.

Bolton were docked 12 points for entering administration at the start of the 2019-20 season, prior to a takeover going through 13 days before the club's EFL membership was due to be revoked.

Rotherham United have urged fans not to attend their New York Stadium home under any circumstances following their promotion back to the Championship.

"We understand that many of our fans will be keen to celebrate, but we must reiterate that this should not be done here at the stadium where there is a risk forming a public gathering which would go against the Government’s guidance on social distancing," they said., external

"We are aware that the motivation for some fans for wanting to attend the club’s home ground will be to show their appreciation to our coaches and players for their efforts this season.

"Our players and staff will be setting the example by enjoying their own celebrations away from the club, in keeping with the current Government advice regarding the COVID-19 outbreak and we ask that our supporters to do the same."

In a statement on their website, Grimsby Town chairman Philip Day says that no decision was made during today's video meeting of EFL member clubs on when the 2020-21 season should begin.

"At the League Two meeting following the decision to curtail the season there was a general discussion on if and when next season will commence," the statement said., external

"No decision was reached but a variety of opinions were expressed about the practicalities and costs of starting the season."

Following the decision to curtail the 2019-20 season, Grimsby finished in 15th place in League Two on points-per-game.

The English Football League have now confirmed that League One clubs have voted 'by an overwhelming majority' to formally end the 2019-20 season.

As stated, the final league standings have been confirmed on a points-per-game basis, meaning that Coventry City go up as champions and are joined by second-placed Rotherham United.

Meanwhile, Wycombe jump up to third and complete the play-off places with Oxford, Fleetwood and Portsmouth.

The play-off schedule will be announced 'in due course', the league say.

The Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley now has a play-off tie to look forward to.

Coventry and Rotherham go up, while Tranmere, Southend and Bolton go down.

Chelsea

Chelsea have announced N'Golo Kante is now taking part in full-contact training.

The French midfielder had been training alone in order to protect himself and his family from the threat of coronavirus.

The EFL has also confirmed the League Two relegation picture cannot be finalised.

Stevenage sit in the relegation place but Macclesfield - one place above them - could yet be deducted points as part of a disciplinary charge.

"Under the proposals agreed by Clubs, the 24th placed Club in the League Two will be relegated to the National League provided the Board receives the necessary assurances that the National League will start Season 2020/21 (i.e. the relegated Club in League Two has somewhere to play)," the EFL said.

"Due to ongoing disciplinary matters, the final placings cannot yet be confirmed."

More now on that story that League Two clubs have voted to end their season.

An EFL statement says: "As a result, the final League standings have now been confirmed meaning that Swindon Town have been confirmed as Champions with Crewe Alexandra and Plymouth Argyle securing the second and third automatic promotion places to League One.

"Cheltenham Town, Exeter City, Colchester United and Northampton Town will contest the Sky Bet Play-Offs with the following schedule agreed:

Northampton Town v Cheltenham Town – 7.45pm

Exeter, Cheltenham, Colchester and Northampton will be in the League Two play-offs as a result of the curtailment to the season.
