Here we go then, back with Drew Brees and the Saints. They are on pretty much halfway. Plenty of time left for both sides to win this.

Super Bowl or six months off?

We may be struggling for new rock stars but if you write a good riff there's still a home for it on US TV coverage of the NFL.

Matt Bellamy is a few quid better off tonight.

  3. Rams punt awaypublished at 12:34 Q4

LA Rams 17-20 New Orleans Saints

Great Saints defence. Jared Goff hands off to CJ Anderson who is absolutely engulfed by three men in black and gold. The Rams have to punt from right near their own goal-line.

Jared Goff is sacked! Looking downfield, scrambling in the pocket, down you go!

  5. Saints have to puntpublished at 14:49 Q4

LA Rams 17-20 New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees is almost picked off! Nickell Robey-Coleman breaks up a pass, looks like pass interference but there's no yellow flag and the Saints have to punt.

Big stop from the Rams! Here come LA.

When your head coach and your quarterback have won a Super Bowl, those are the figureheads who you look to. The rest of the Saints team may not be that experienced at this level but they have leaders who can guide them through.

    That's significant.

  8. Postpublished at 0.38 Q3

LA Rams 17-20 New Orleans Saints

Both sides have exactly 234 yards of offense so far. Fumble!

Could be big - but there's no turnover. Alvin Kamara lost it but fell straight back on it. Aaron Donald was close to a turnover for the Rams there.

Drew Brees, so smooth. Picks out Tre'Quan Smith for a first down. Saints on the move.

    SILENCE in the Superdome...

Tyler Higbee is wide open, so open, to score and bring the Rams back into business. A 10-play, 70-yard drive with Jared Goff perfect on that drive.

Huge run from Josh Reynolds! He sweeps around, taking the ball from Jared Goff and smashing through two tackles. Has he scored? No, ruled down at about the one.

    Right on the line!

  13. Home comforts for the Saints?published at 22:10 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2019

LA Rams 10-20 New Orleans Saints

One factor that could benefit the Saints tonight is home-field advantage.

Sean Payton's side have lost just twice at home all season, with their only losses at the Superdome coming to Tampa Bay in week one and Carolina in week 17.

When these two teams met here during the regular season, New Orleans came out as 45-35 winners.

Both teams have improved defensively since then but hopefully we'll still see plenty more points...

A Bolton Wanderers do not play in Bolton sort of situation.

CJ Anderson is close to picking up a first down for LA.

    Breaking

LA Rams 10-20 New Orleans Saints

Clever! Saints put in Taysom Hill as quarterback for the throw before which was dropped by Alvin Kamara, he then stays out there and catches a pass from Drew Brees and charges in for the score.

He is the 68th player to score a touchdown for the Saints from a Brees pass. Phenom.

Wil Lutz is good for the PAT.
