  1. Chiefs slip up at Coltspublished at 06:32 British Summer Time 7 October 2019

The Kansas City Chiefs failed to maintain their unbeaten run following a 19-13 defeat by the Indianapolis Colts.

Running back Marlon Mack rushed for 132 yards on 29 carries as the Colts worked the clock like a charm to keep the ball for 37 minutes.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a game to forget after showing such blistering form in the opening four games of the season.

The 24-year-old was sacked four times and turned his ankle in the first half but played on, aggravating the injury in the second half.

  2. Defending champions maintain 100% startpublished at 01:34 British Summer Time 7 October 2019

The New England Patriots maintained their 100% start to the 2019 season on Sunday to become the only team with a 5-0 record – before the Kansas City Chiefs, the side they beat in last season’s Super Bowl, play in the late, late kick-off.

There were also impressive wins in week five for the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints while the Oakland Raiders upset the Chicago Bears in what proved to be a thrilling first NFL game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There will be highlights online throughout the week, plus analysis on NFL This Week on Tuesday from 23:15 BST on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website & app.

Tom Brady was sacked four times yet the veteran quarterback still managed to hit another milestone as the Patriots won 33-7 at the Washington Redskins.

Brady, 42, threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns to move into third on the NFL’s all-time list for passing yards.

He passed Green Bay legend Brett Favre before finishing the game on 71,846 – just 17 behind Peyton Manning in second.

Drew Brees, currently out with a thumb injury, is the all-time leader with 78,845 and his back-up QB Teddy Bridgewater threw four touchdown passes as the New Orleans Saints beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-24 to go 4-1.

  4. Late games round-uppublished at 01:22 British Summer Time 7 October 2019

The Green Bay Packers are also 4-1 after Aaron Jones tied a franchise record with four touchdown runs as his side held on for a 34-24 win at the Dallas Cowboys.

The Packers went into a 31-3 lead late in the third quarter before the Cowboys' fightback came up just short.

The Denver Broncos chalked up their first win of the season as they beat the LA Chargers 20-13.

  5. Raiders win thriller in Tottenham’s first NFL gamepublished at 01:16 British Summer Time 7 October 2019

The Oakland Raiders came from behind to beat the Chicago Bears 24-21 and claim a thrilling victory in the first NFL game at theTottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A record crowd of 60,463 for the £1bn venue saw Josh Jacobs and DeAndre Washington run in touchdowns as the Raiders led 17-0 after a dominant first half.

With most of the London fans backing the Bears, they produced a stirring fightback in the third quarter, scoring 21 unanswered points with three touchdowns in under 12 minutes.

But rookie running back Jacobs claimed his second TD with under two minutes left to cap a 97-yard drive and give Raiders coach Jon Gruden his first back-to-back wins since returning to the job in 2018.

  6. Early games round-uppublished at 01:11 British Summer Time 7 October 2019

Justin Tucker drilled in a 46-yard field goal to give the Baltimore Ravens a 26-23 overtime win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tucker had earlier made a 48-yard field goal with 10 seconds of regulation time left to force overtime against their bitter divisional rivals.

There was more late drama as Zane Gonzalez's last-second field goal gave the Arizona Cardinals a 26-23 win over the Cincinnati Bengals – and number one draft pick Kyler Murray his first victory in the NFL.

Fellow rookie Daniel Jones suffered his first loss as the Minnesota Vikings won 28-10 at the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills beat the Tennessee Titans 14-7.

Deshaun Watson threw five touchdown passes as the Houston Texans won 53-32 against the Atlanta Falcons, while running back Christian McCaffrey scored three touchdowns and had over 200 yards of offence in the Carolina Panthers’ 34-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. But the New York Jets remain winless after losing 31-6 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

It was only running into the kicker and not roughing so that's only a five-yard penalty against Dallas. They have the ball back.
