I think we all need a rest after a scintillating weekend of NFL action before we do it all again next weekend.

Tom Brady may well have thrown his last pass as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer with tonight's elimination but will he carry on playing?

The seven-time Super Bowl champion has signed a 10-year deal to join Fox Sports as the lead on-air analyst once his career has finished, so we may see him in the commentary booth as early as next season.

He remained coy on his future as usual in the press conference saying it "felt the like the end of the season" and that he would "get a good night's sleep" before making any decisions.

If he does call it a career, then ESPN's Troy Aikman said it best "what a career."

More from Tom Brady on his plans following the season: "I am going to get home and get a good night's sleep as good as I can tonight, there has been a lot of focus on this game and it will be one day at a time.

The superstar quarterback also thanked the media and expressed his gratitude to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers: "It just feels like the end of the season, I just want to say thank you guys for everything this year, I really appreciate all your effort, you guys have got a tough job and I appreciate everything you do to cover us and for everyone who is a big fan of the sport we are thankful for their support.

"I love this organisation it is a great place to be and thank you to everyone for welcoming me and very grateful for the respect and hopefully I gave the same thing back to you guys."

Tom Brady after the Buccaneers' play-off loss: "Not the way we wanted to end it but we didn't deserve it, they played a good game and made a lot more plays than we did so tough game.

"They played pretty good, they played good defensively and put a lot of pressure on us and we couldn't make the plays. It's where we was all season - inefficient in the passing game and couldn't get anything going in the running game."

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott speaking to ESPN after the win: "We settled in, missed a couple early but we got in a groove able to show the run, run the ball a little bit and everything off of that started working."

On the pressure to win on the road in the play-offs: "Didn't listen to anybody else's opinions made sure I was conscious of what I put in my own head and I have a great supporting cast and I was able to focus on what I needed to do."

On facing the San Francisco 49ers in the next round: "They are a good team, they took us out last year we know what we have ahead of us and we have to look forward to another great week of preparation."

It was a cagey opening to the game with both sides unable to move the ball at all on their opening two drives.

From their third drive onwards it was pretty much one way traffic as Dak Prescott and the Dallas offence found their stride and put together three straight scoring drives.

On the other side of the ball, a big takeaway in the endzone just after their first touchdown set the tone for the rest of the game as they stifled the Buccaneers offence throughout.

The Cowboys will now go on to face the San Francisco 49ers, the team they beat on the road in January 1993.

After the excitement of the onside kick return and the missed the deep shot. This game looks to be over now.

Tom Brady is unable to find Julio Jones over the middle of the field on fourth down and that means the Cowboys can kneel this one out.

Dorance Armstrong puts a great move on the Buccaneers right guard and collapses the pocket on Tom Brady who was trying to step up away from Micah Parsons.

The Buccaneers come out swinging on first down, Brady dials up a long ball to Mike Evans and a would-be touchdown catch is off his fingertips.

Tampa Bay aren't willing to go quietly into the night. They attempt an onside kick and Noah Brown is unable to secure for Dallas, there is a scrum for the loose ball and the Buccaneers come up with it.

They will still need a miracle down 17 with two minutes to go.

Russell Gage is currently down and in a lot of pain. He takes a big hit to the neck as he tries to make a catch and after initially trying to get up he is attended to by team physios.

Not much room to operate on first and second down runs for Dallas.

On third down Dak Prescott takes a deep shot down the right side to TY Hilton that maybe should have been intercepted but it falls incomplete.

The Buccaneers will get another offensive possession.
