These conditions are punishing for athletes and maybe they got the better of Shelayna Oskan-Clarke there. Her legs just went.

Shelayna Oskan-Clarke is out! She stumbles in the last 20m and goes down. Out of the champs.

    Ajee Wilson wins it.

    Women's 800m

Aside from event favourite Ajee Wilson, there’s no-one in this semi-final for Shelayna Oskan-Clarke to fear. The Brit’s medal prospects have improved after team-mate Lynsey Sharp’s failure to progress beyond the heats.

Can she get in the final?

Alex Bell just didn't get into it. We saw signs in the heat yesterday that she wasn't as ready as she wanted to be. It was a race which should have suited her.

Christian Coleman could probably stop for a cuppa en route and still win the 100m final later (20:15 BST).

The other two medals appear up for grabs with Briton Zharnel Hughes in the mix.

He afforded himself a smile as he crossed the line after a very relaxed display. South Africa's Akani Simbine, Canada Andre de Grasse and defending champion Justin Gatlin, jeered by a minority when his name was read out, will likely be his rivals.

Having overcome a bad position to reach the semi-final, Bell said: “I like a bit of excitement to get the party started!”.

Potential party poopers for the Brit include American Raevyn Rogers and Winnie Nanyondo of Uganda.

    Michael Johnson
Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC TV

I think the second semi-final taught us the most. We thought Blake and Gatlin would be in there but Gatlin, I think he is struggling a bit at this point. He may still be there in the medals in the final. Blake, I'm not sure what that was. Coleman is out there in a class by himself but I think there are four or five athletes out there for those silver and bronze medals.

Coleman, I don't think anyone can run with him. He's in a class all by himself.

  20. Where's Falah?published at 17:07 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

One thing noticeable is the absence of Falah the Falcon greeting winners at the end of the race - it's usually mascot protocol at these championships.

I mean, who wouldn't want to be dressed in a falcon suit in these conditions?!

Not that it would have caught Christian Coleman who rushed off for a cool-down.
