Adam Gemili is edged out of the automatic two spots by one hundredth of a second. This image captures the moment Canada's Aaron Brown saw he had beaten the Brit into second.

He could still edge through as one of two fastest losers from the three heats but he is not confident.

"I don't think 10.13 will be good enough," Gemili says. "No excuses really, I don't think I executed the race I could have. I could get lucky but that wasn't good enough or a world champs. It's sport, you have to execute in these moments and today I didn't. This was very open and I am gutted I let an opportunity like that go past. Annoying, very disappointing."

    Michael Johnson
Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC TV

Look at the distance Coleman puts between himself and the world-class field. I think it just sends a message that no one here is going to be able to run with him.
