By the way, this is American Craig Engels, who finished fourth in the first semi-final to reach the 1500m final.

A reminder that this is the 2019 World Athletics Championships, not the 1983 World Athletics Championships.

That was incredible from Scot Neil Gourley, the man who didn't think he was "talented enough".

He looked out of it with 250m when they started to kick but then found another gear.

"I've got goals for this championship that don't involve just being there and being part of it," Gourley told BBC Scotland before the champs.

"I want to be in that final and doing my best to get near the medals."

Does he have a chance of medal on Sunday? Well, the final won't be about times, it'll be down to pure tactics. The British champion mastered them there.

BTW they are removing the big flags covering the remaining empty seats - we have a near packed house tonight inside the Khalifa.

The atmosphere is incredible - at the moment.

Those 'two other boys' are Josh Kerr and Commonwealth and European bronze medallist Jake Wightman, who fly the flag for Great Britain in the second semi-final.

Olympic champion Matthew Centrowitz is in lane one and European champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen is next to him.

Keep an eye out for Ugandan Ronald Musagala too, he's in lane five and is in form - he's got the second fast SB in this semi-final behind Ingebrigtsen.

Britain's 1500m finalist Neil Gourley speaking to BBC TV: "You don't get those kind of opportunity twice in a row, I had to steal it when it opened it. I was just playing the lane one game the whole race and eventually gaps start opening up when people start to panic.

"It's a relief - hopefully the two other boys can join me in the semi-finals. Some of the major players are there today and I'm not as far away as you'd think. On paper I'm miles away but in reality it's a bit closer.

"The crowd have really turned out in full voice today. I'm loving it."

It's packed in the stand nearest the high jump, with Doha-based Mutaz Essa Barshim set to compete in the final.

The Qatari took gold in London two years ago but, while attempting to break the world record last July, he ruptured ligaments in his left ankle and spent 14 months being unable to walk.

He's been on the comeback trail this year - the qualifying event earlier this week was only his fourth outing since the injury - but he still managed a season's best 2.29m.

The final couple of 100m, Neil didn't really set a foot wrong. He put himself in the right place to capitalise on that gap.

He sensed the gap was there and he managed to pick up the space enough to surge past him, and Filip Ingebrigtsen had nothing left to give.
