Oh, Toby Harries is absolutely gutted.

He just fumbled trying to pass Rabah Yousif the baton. Yousif was reaching desperately for it and couldn't cling on, with Harries falling to the floor in despair.

This Great Britain team is very young. If they can beat anyone, that's a win for them.

A reminder that there's no Martyn Rooney on the anchor leg for the Brits tonight. Toby Harries replaces Rooney in the line-up.

This is a tough ask - the United States, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago all looked strong, as did Belgium.

GB reached the final after Botswana were disqualified, freeing up the last lucky loser spot.

  11. 'Fastest we've run in years'published at 19:30 British Summer Time 6 October 2019

    Women's 4x400m relay final

    BBC Sport

GB's women's 4x400m relay team have been speaking to BBC TV after finishing fourth in the final.

Zoey Clark: "This was difficult, we really upped our game and the time we ran shows that."

Jodie Williams:"My legs are burning! I'm so proud of these girls. Every single one of them showed up and did their part. I couldn't be happier to be part of this team. We'll see about the individual 400m. Let me go on the off season first!"

Emily Diamond: "We ran our socks off today, every single one of us. We wanted that medal so, so badly.

"That's the fastest we've run in many years, it surpasses the Olympics, and I think we can be proud of ourselves."

Laviai Nielsen: "There was a lot of starting and stopping on my leg. I thought I should just try and run a smart leg. I probably got it tactically wrong which is my fault completely, so I'm really sorry to the girls. I think it's quicker than we've run in quite a long time so that bodes well for Tokyo next year."

Poland were just too good. They were always going to be too good.

That was a fantastic race by the US and it was a really smart choice to bring in the two 400m hurdles runners.

    Colin Jackson

Poland ran a national record - they were on top, top form. Scintillating.

The US team was strong - medals galore, champions galore, and experience.

The Americans dominated that from the moment the starter's gun sounded. They win gold in a world leading time of 3:18.92.

Silver goes to Poland, bronze for Jamaica.

Unfortunately, it's fourth for GB. Laviai Nielsen ultimately couldn't make up the ground on Poland and Jamaica.

The gold medal is pretty much the USA's now and it's a three-way battle for the other medals.

Jamaica are closing down GB in the bronze medal position as the fourth exchange approaches.

Zoey Clark gives Great Britain a good start but it's the USA who make big strides in these early stages.

A good changeover for GB but the USA are miles ahead. Poland and Jamaica also in the mix.
