    Women's 10,000m final

This final should take about 30 minutes, give or take, although they have started very leisurely.

Sifan Hassan has already raced around this track once today, of course, in the 1500m this morning.

She's right at the back as the race gets going.

Next up is the first track final - the women's 10,000m.

The cameras are following the remarkable Sifan Hassan, winner of the London Marathon earlier this year, who is going for an incredible 1500m, 5000m, 10000m treble here.

This race includes three of the four fastest runners in history - world record holder and reigning champion Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia, compatriot Gudaf Tsegay and Hassan, who ran in the 1500m heats this morning.

    Jessica Warner-Judd competes for Britain.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson needed a big performance - and she delivered!

The legs started to go as the lactic struck towards the finish line but she holds off Anna Hall to leap in to second place overall.

The former world champion receives a nice big hug from leader Hall, who now sits within 93 points heading in to tomorrow's finale.

Get a good rest, Katarina, there's a medal to be won!

  10. Crouser makes ominous start to shot finalpublished at 19:44 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Men's shot put final

In the middle of this impressive stadium, the men's shot put final is under way and Olympic champion and world record holder Ryan Crouser starts with a big throw of 22.63m.

His prep has been hampered by being diagnosed with blood clots in his leg in the run up to these world championships.

It doesn't seem to be impacting him...

In the high jump, I expected to see a little bit more from Anna Hall. She didn't get into the 90s. We can't expect her to PB every time.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson will be in the third and final heat, along with the others at the top of the overall leaderboard.

On paper at least Johnson-Thompson is the quickest over 200m so this could be a chance to gain back some ground.

2019 world champion Christian Coleman makes it through in the seventh and final men's 100m heat.

  16. Jacobs here and ready to competepublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport in Budapest

Marcell Jacobs' fitness was a complete unknown coming in to this.

Having managed to race just once in an injury hampered season, finishing seventh at the Paris Diamond League back in early June, he would appear to be in no shape to challenge for a medal.

But he takes the third automatic qualification spot after receiving a warm reception and, with that, the Olympic champion has arrived. A shock victor in Tokyo, you just can't rule him out...
