Britain's Josh Kerr wins the men's 1500m gold medal
Great Britain's Josh Kerr says he "couldn't be prouder" as he wins gold in the men's 1500m final at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

Britain's Josh Kerr stunned Norway's Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen to take 1500m gold at the World Championships in Budapest.
Kerr, Olympic bronze medallist in Tokyo, timed his surge for gold to perfection inside the final 200m.
The 25-year-old clocked a season's best three minutes 29.38 seconds to make his first podium at a World Championships.
It comes one year after Ingebrigtsen suffered defeat by Briton Jake Wightman in similar circumstances in Eugene.
Kerr let out an almighty roar as he crossed the line, celebrating with the crowd and embracing his parents in the stands with a gold medal proudly hanging from his neck.
Ingebrigtsen, meanwhile, appeared crestfallen as history repeated itself.
The 22-year-old led from the front for much of the race before once again being denied by a gutsy finish from a British athlete, Kerr breaking his rival in the final 50m.
Ingebrigtsen held on for silver in 3:29.65 ahead of compatriot Narve Gilje Nordas (3:29.68), while Britain's Neil Gourley finished ninth in 3:31.10.
Kerr earned GB a fourth medal of the championships, and second gold, following in the footsteps of Katarina Johnson-Thompson after her heptathlon triumph.

More quotes from Josh Kerr, speaking to BBC TV: "It was fast from early on and I kind of got bumped back to sixth or seventh but I stayed calm. I just wanted to execute a race I’d be proud of today and I knew I was capable of a world championship gold medal for Great Britain so I’m just very glad to add to that medal count today.
"Fifty metres to go, I kind of broke him and it was just about holding form at that point. Again, I’d be proud of giving everything I had in that situation if that was gold, silver or bronze but I’ve had the bronze and the gold is a lot sweeter.
"The support from British Athletics in this last couple of weeks in the camp, with my whole training set-up and all of that being funded by the National Lottery and its players. I just can’t thank this team enough for everything they’ve done for us, everything they’ve done for the athletes and you can see already with the medal count we have. We have the best support and that’s down to the funding we have from the National Lottery.
While emotional and tearing up, he adds: "This is a lot for our family. They’ve put a lot of time, effort and money into me. I just couldn’t be prouder to represent the Kerr family name today. I gave it everything for them, and myself and my fiance.
"This is the life I want to lead for them. They’ve given me so much and it was nice to pay that back a little bit today."

I think the great thing is that Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the semi-final was really showboating but it didn’t ruffle Josh at all.
You could see that he was just so confident. He wasn’t giving him any space to go out there and dominate. He was confident that he could overtake him and it’s great to see.

I think Josh Kerr has matured a lot in the last couple of years.
He had a tough year last year but this year, I love the way he’s conducted himself not just physically but also how he’s prepared himself mentally as well

Britain's 1500m world champion in 2022, speaking on BBC One
We thought Jakob Ingebrigtsen was a much better finisher now but it’s not good enough for Josh Kerr today.
Honestly I knew Josh Kerr could do that. That was the thing. Josh always has the ability to be able to go and do that, it’s just what Jakob is going to have to respond. I don’t know what more Jakob can do.
It’s a championship race. We said without pace makers it always exposes him and Josh has taken complete advantage of that. I just can’t believe we’ve had two back-to-back world champions.

What made that so amazing and so exciting is that Jakob Ingebrigtsen is the person that everybody talks about but twice now, two years in a row, not only has he been beaten but he’s been beaten by a Brit. That’s got to sting a bit.
You can see the look on his [Ingebrigtsen's] face coming down the home stretch that he was very disappointed and it’s that hopeless feeling of nothing you can do, nothing you can do about it.
