    Round 1: Groves v Chudinov

    Steve Bunce
Boxing pundit on BBC Radio 5 live at Bramall Lane

It is fast and furious. Groves was too fired up and too fast. He also seemed to get hurt at one point.

    Round 1: Groves v Chudinov

He can hit, but he can get hit. George Groves starts the contest well, but also takes a few jabs to the face later on, with the Englishman forced on to the ropes as the clock ticked down in the opener.

A lively round, a hard to call round, but a sign of a very good contest to come.

And we are under way in round one. Groves peppers out a fast jab and there is already some red marks around the Russian's eyes.

  5. 'Groves' last chance'published at 21:38 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Mike Costello
BBC boxing correspondent at Bramall Lane

George Groves says it's his best chance. At 29, it might even be his last chance to win a world title. Certainly it's the best of the four chances he's had so far.

  7. Who is Chudinov?published at 21:37 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

Standing in George Groves' way is Russia's Fedor Chudinov, a 29-year-old who has only lost in the ring once out of 15 fights.

Even that defeat is a controversial one as not long after Chudinov's loss for the Super WBA Super-middleweight title to Felix Sturm, the German failed a drug test.

  8. 'Groves looks very mature now'published at 21:36 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

Peter Fury, the uncle and trainer of heavyweights Tyson and Hughie, expects George Groves to take the victory.

  9. My best opportunity - Grovespublished at 21:34 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

George Groves believes this is his "best opportunity" to land a world title at the fourth attempt after a tumultuous three years, losing twice to Carl Froch - once at a packed-out Wembley Stadium - before being narrowly out-pointed by Badou Jack in Las Vegas.

That 2015 defeat by Floyd Mayweather's fighter prompted 'Saint George' to join trainer Shane McGuigan and four wins have followed.

"Yes I've lost three title shots but I don't feel beat up, I don't feel exposed," said Groves, 29. "This time I am not going to allow it to be close. Everything is in my favour and we are in a good place to go and win."

  10. Fourth time lucky?published at 21:33 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

It is a title no fighter wants to have - that of being the nearly man of boxing.

That moniker has been handed to George Groves after three failed attempts to win a world title.

His first challenge came in November 2013 when he suffered a hugely controversial ninth-round loss to Carl Froch, when referee Howard Foster stopped the contest.

A rematch between Froch and Groves took place in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley in May 2014, with Froch winning with an eighth round knockout (pictured below).

Groves third title defeat may well be the hardest one to take - when he lost a split decision on points to Sweden's Badou Jack in Las Vegas in September 2015.

Now, will it be fourth time lucky for Groves?

To say there is security at Bramall Lane is an understatement. Monday's attack in Manchester prompted organisers and authorities to stiffen their security measures here.

Promoter Eddie Hearn stated major events "should go ahead for the good of the country" and hence, here we are.

Getting access to the media area was tricky. Gates which should have been open were closed, while security staff disagreed with press officers as to what should and shouldn't be open. Caution is king here and rightly so.

Kell Brook has been given the home dressing room at Bramall Lane, obviously.

  19. 'I can finally tick this box'published at 21:12 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

When he was only seven, Kell Brook went to Bramall Lane to watch a Sheffield United match for the first time with his uncle Johnny and now, 24 years later, Brook himself is the main event at the stadium.

"I'm just so happy that my uncle's dream has come true," said Brook.

"I am just so motivated for this fight, being back in Sheffield and being here. I'm happy I can finally tick this box off. I've been on to (promoter) Eddie Hearn to make it happen for a few years now.

"The atmosphere, when I was a youngster first feeling that: when we're on fire here, it is fantastic."
