I'm very much taken by the official fight programme. They've gone down the route of using artwork on the front. At around £22 it's a bit pricey but who would not want a piece of fight history right?

  4. 'It is a show, not a fight'published at 23:52 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

Not everyone is too impressed with this fight.

World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and two of the world's top boxing promoters dismiss the Floyd Mayweather - Conor McGregor fight as a "show" and a "circus".

Unbeaten Golovkin, arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the game at the moment, (if you go on the basis Mayweather has not fought in nearly two years) fights Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in a super fight in Las Vegas on 16 September with four middleweight world titles on the line.

BBC Sport visited Ireland to find out how Conor McGregor went from the Dublin suburb of Crumlin to the bright lights of Las Vegas via a spectacular career in the UFC.

Speaking to those who knew and trained him, find out about the plumber turned MMA star's upbringing and how he turned into one of combat sports most recognisable faces.

At an event like this you can't just rock up at the T-Mobile Arena for work. With around 1,000 journalists accredited for fightweek, it has to be organised.

All week media have had wristbands and have been asked to scan them when entering and exiting venues. Today though it's a new queue and new accreditation in the form of a lanyard.

How lucky we all are. After picking it up I chat to three guys in the lift who have been priced out of tickets. They are now exploring the option of watching the bout on big screen at the MGM Grand which will cost them a couple of hundred dollars each.

Dan Washbourne: Plenty have underestimated McGregor before and been made to regret it. Be particularly sweet if this happens to Floyd tonight.

Kev: All it's going to take is one good punch from McGregor. He's got a fighter's chance. If he's going to do it, it'll be within six.

Haider: Anyone think McGregor can shock the world tonight? He's confident he will do it in four rounds! Excitement!

  12. Tickets, who wants ticketspublished at 22:57 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

Crazy as it seems, £1,800 for the tickets is not as bad as it could have been.

Tickets on Stubhub yesterday were going for $68,170 (£52,940).

They aren't there now so someone has snapped them up, instead of choosing a really, really nice car, or paying off a huge slab off the mortgage.

There may be some empty seats in the T-Mobile Arena tonight with tickets on Stubhub still going for up to $19,700 (£15,290).

BBC Sport boxing reporter in Las Vegas

One thing I've noticed this week is whenever you engage in a chat with someone in Las Vegas, you'll be asked if you're going to the fight.

Last night an Australian guy told me in the lift he'd flown over for five days for it. He had that surfers look and dare I say it did not look like a high roller. If he was, he hid it well.

He told me he's parted with $4,800 for two tickets. That's around £3,600 or £1,800 each.

If this fight ends early, that's an expensive few minutes right there!

  14. 'I quit my job to be here'published at 22:39 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

Despite the fight taking place in America, there is a very good chance there will be more fans supporting Conor McGregor than American Floyd Mayweather.

BBC Sport has caught up with some of the Irish fans who have descended on Las Vegas to see MMA star McGregor take on boxing legend Mayweather.

Included in the video is an interview with one fan, who has left his job to make sure he could watch in Vegas. That is commitment at an extreme, extreme level.

Matthew Barton: McGregor fight is like asking a great squash player (Jahangir Khan) to beat great tennis player (McEnroe) @ Wimbledon - no chance.

Levi Holgate‏: Do think McGregor might have this fight. Different angles, multiple stances, power left hand. All too much for Floyd at his age.

Diano Olwenyi Peters: This fight has been hyped but may turn into a farce because it's about the money and not the quality or beauty of the game.

  18. 'All Floyd thinks about is fighting McGregor'published at 22:03 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

    How the fight was made

Despite McGregor pushing for this fight to happen, there was a problem. He hadn't fought professionally and didn't even have a licence. Talks between the two camps began in May 2016 and McGregor was granted a boxing licence in California last November.

After social media insults flew from both sides, including Mayweather calling McGregor a "little punk", the Irishman claimed he had signed a contract for the fight and applied for a Nevada boxing licence, so it could be held in Las Vegas. However, it was still a shock to both the boxing and UFC worlds when Mayweather posted a video on social media confirming the fight will happen.

Leonard Ellerbe, chief executive of Mayweather Promotions, said that constant pressure from fans led to Mayweather agreeing to the fight.

Ellerbe said: "There is not one place I go to with Floyd where he doesn't get asked the question: 'Floyd, are you going to fight Conor McGregor?' All Floyd thinks about is fighting Conor McGregor."

  19. How a chat show led to this fight happeningpublished at 21:51 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

How is this fight even happening? Didn't Floyd Mayweather retire?

Well, yes, he did. After Mayweather gained a convincing points win over Andre Berto in September 2015, the American, who has won world titles at five weights, said: "My career is over, that's official.

"You've got to know when to hang them up. There's nothing left to prove in the sport of boxing, I just want to spend time with my family."

However, there was growing interest in a fight between Mayweather and McGregor, after the Irish UFC star went on American chat show Conan and said he would "most certainly dismantle" Mayweather.
