Remember, that was Lee Selby jumping up two weights. It is a winning start but boy has he earned his money today.
He's going to have two shiners tomorrow, but he has another win on the record, that is 27 wins from 29 bouts for Lee Selby and he also has the IBF Inter-Continental Lightweight Championship as well.
The Welshman gets the decision, by 116-112 verdicts on two of the cards and by a one-round margin of 115-114 by the third judge.
Bad cuts to both eyes, but Lee Selby has got the job done, just about. He has dug deep, very deep, but got his arm raised at the end.
This could well be a close decision.
Round 12: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
Selby is enjoying a good final round and that should be all of the last three he has taken without much question. But a spirited effort from both men, and they both get to hear the final bell as they deserved. We go to the judges. Good fight that one. Good character shown from both men as well.
Round 11: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
That's two rounds in a row for Selby, in some style. Three minutes left, but the Welshman can't let up the pressure, especially as Douglas is probably going to get the early rounds.
"He's going to come and try to knock you out," Selby is warned. Will Douglas be good enough to do so?
Round 11: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
A left to the head of the Douglas followed by a crushing right to the ribs. Selby is ending this one strongly. This is new territory for Douglas, has he punched himself out too early?
Round 10: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
A fine round from Selby, dancing forward unleashing a lovely right to the Douglas face and dancing back before any response. And again seconds later. The Welshman has the greater experiences in boxing and is showing his class towards the end of this one.
Battered, bleeding and cut he may well be but his boxing at range was excellent in that 10th. The sort of round that swings the momentum of a fight.
Round 10: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
Who's winning this one? Hard to say to be honest. One knockdown in the final three rounds could make all the difference.
Round 9: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
Douglas is in a 12-rounder for the first time, but there is no sign of any let up in his stamina. "There you go, there you go," scream his corner as he lands again.
He has two targets to go for - and any punch to either of the Selby eyes leads to the cut reopened again. It is a night when the often unheralded member of team - the cutman - has a hugely important role to play in all this.
Round 8: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
Despite the cuts over both eyes, Selby is still in this, still swinging. Just like the Warrington fight in May, it has proved to be a bloody night for him. That night ended in disappointment, will there be a happier outcome tonight?
Round 7: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
Selby was cut over the left eye in the second. He's now got a matching cut over the right eye as well. You can see Selby screaming out in pain after another head clash, with the blood appearing seconds later. Desperate times.
Round 6: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
Omar Douglas has 19 wins from his 21 contests, with two defeats, and this is his first appearance in a British ring. It is an impressive debut. A crushing left hook to the temple is a good shot from the American, although he later walked on to a similarly impressive left from Selby. Halfway through this 12-rounder. Could go either way.
We're expecting the main event some time after 22:00 GMT and here is a preview courtesy of 5 live Boxing's Mike Costello and Steve Bunce

Round 5: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
Arguably his best round of the contest so far, the fifth. Selby is showing his boxing class, including a lovely left uppercut on the inside, before spinning away from Douglas' attempted counter. Beautiful.
"We've got this," the American is told. Maybe, maybe not. Five gone.
Round 4: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
And this is the said cut...
Round 4: Lee Selby v Omar Douglas
A good, straight right from Selby finds the mark in the fourth, but this is proving a much more difficult night than expected against a very attacking and courageous American.
The blood, as it has been at the end of each round since the second, has been dripping down the Selby face. How much is it restricting his vision? Four gone, Selby has a lot of work to do.
Enzo Maccarinelli is worried about his fellow Welshman.

Selby, with 26 wins in 28 contests, is still in this bout with Omar Douglas and we're into the third round, but Selby's corner had to get to work to deal with a deep and bad cut over the left eye.
He got cut in the loss to Warrington and has done so again, although the Welshman claimed that Douglas had gone in with the head to cause the damage.
