Sunderland's Josh Kelly remains unbeaten after his tenth professional fight ended with a majority draw decision against Ray Robinson.

The Briton looked comfortable in the opening few rounds but Robinson grew into the contest the longer it wore on.

One judge gave it 96-95 to Kelly, and two judges called it 95-95.

Katie Taylor hopes her performances in the ring are helping to create opportunities for the next generation of female boxers.

Belgium's Persoon, holder of the WBC belt since 2014, has had to balance her preparations for the fight with the demands of her day job in the country's police force - and whatever happens, expects to be back at work on Wednesday.

To get ready for Taylor, she saved up overtime at work and added a few days' annual leave to allow her to have a long and focused spell in a training camp - a contrast with the extra day or two off she normally has to get ready for a bout.

Persoon, 34, has never fought outside of her homeland, having taken up boxing 12 years ago after injury ended her judo career.

While Ireland's Taylor was winning Olympic gold at London 2012, the Belgian was setting up her own fight shows and selling tickets privately, on her way to compiling a record of 43 wins from 44 bouts.

"Taylor had a big amateur career but in Belgium it wasn't possible for me with no national team so I went pro after just 12 amateur fights," Persoon told BBC Sport.

"My trainer has been busy looking at this fight for two years, hoping I may get a chance. We did not think we would but I thought: If I just keep my WBC title, maybe one day she would want it. I am going to go for the fight and I think I am the first Belgian who can make history and take all the belts."

So what of Delfine Persoon? Well, she spends her days training police to prepare for large-scale events, and is often deployed to work on international cycling races. Recently, she has taken on a new role as an inspector and is also qualified to train officers to operate firearms.

"For me, work is always most important, then the boxing is my hobby, my passion," she said.

"If I lose it won't be pretty but for her, if she loses, it's her job.

"We are going to go for it. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance, so why not? A lot of people say I have no chance but me, I say 50-50."

Katie Taylor says her attempt to take Delfine Persoon's WBC title at Madison Square Garden night will be "the biggest fight of her career".

When negotiations for the fight began, Persoon's offer of 130,000 euros was rebuffed by Taylor's management, who said their fighter "wouldn't get out of bed" for the sum.

But for Taylor, the contest is about more than money. Victory can cement her legacy at lightweight and push her on to contests with champions from other divisions.

"It's huge, the biggest fight and biggest night of my career," Taylor said.

Katie Taylor has been described as "the closest thing Ireland has to royalty" by the Irish Times. She holds the IBF, WBA and WBO World female lightwight belts and will get the full set if she takes the WBC version off of Belgium's Delfine Persoon today.

As Taylor bids for all four major belts in just her 14th professional fight, she has come a long way from the girl who pretended to be a boy in order to box.

"Those are the things you had to do when I started boxing as a 10-year-old," Taylor told BBC Sport. "Things have come a long way since then.

"It sounds like Delfine has had a lot of battles as a female boxer in Belgium but she's got herself in this position and I definitely have an awful lot of respect for her.

"Since I turned professional I wanted to be an undisputed champion. This was always the goal so I pinch myself I have this opportunity, it can't get any better than this."

We'll have a lot more chat about Anthony Joshua throughout the morning but let's have a look at Katie Taylor as she aims to become an undisputed champion.

Unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua says he will only feel he has "made it" in boxing if he captures Deontay Wilder's WBC title.

Day Riley: I think Joshua beats Wilder 8/10, Wilder and Fury probably even split, Joshua beats Fury 6 or 7/10. Fury is the best tactician of the three of them though, knows exactly how to spoil his way through and make his opponents look bad

Andy Ruiz Jr has been a credit to himself this week. Approachable, warm, smiling at all times, he seems content to get in there and eat some leather.

His physique has drawn a few harsh comments and he told media that he was bothered by his size being pointed out to him when he was younger.

This, he told me, could provide his ultimate ‘I told you so’ moment.

"I was always a big kid. My first amateur fight, I was seven years old and there were no kids at my weight so I fought older guys,” he said.

"It took a little bit to get used to and it would get me down at times.

"At one moment I wanted to give up listening to the doubters telling me 'you're too big man, too big to be on the big stage'. So I will be remembering that on Saturday and be like 'I told you so'."

Anthony Joshua himself has been quick to defend Andy Ruiz, saying that boxing is "not about what you look like - it's a craft, a skill".

The Briton added: "What's in your heart and head matters in the end. Andy has shown he has all that, he can fight and box, that's what matters.

"I think Andy is a great challenger and will bring it. Fighting the Ruizes of the world is more dangerous than fighting the likes of Wilder. Why would I fight talent who has potential to beat me when I can just fight Wilder, who is talented but who has what I want?

"I'd rather take the Wilder opportunity. I don't want to keep fighting these guys, I want to get straight to the big fights."

California-born Ruiz, 29, has fought for a world title once before and promoter Eddie Hearn says Ruiz will "do anything" to become world champion.

"He will entertain you, give it his all. Even if it means getting sensationally knocked out, he will rather do that than not do it," Hearn told Fighthype.com.

"I couldn't afford a guy who I thought may not be good enough or game enough to entertain the fans.

"I had to pick a guy in my heart who I thought will do everything to become world heavyweight champion at the Garden."

Andy Ruiz has got a body that you wouldn't describe as sculpted but it has worked for him in compiling a record of 32 wins and one defeat.

As we saw in the workout, he has very fast hands. That could be a factor. Another factor: how will he react when he is hit harder than he has ever been hit before?

But the announcement of Andy Ruiz as Joshua's opponent has not been a widely popular one.

On paper, his record of 32 wins in 33 fights, with 21 victories inside the distance, is certainly impressive.

His only loss came against Joseph Parker - the only man to go the distance with Joshua.

However, it is his physique, and not his boxing skills, that have been widely talked about in the build-up, with Ruiz coming in nearly 20lbs heavier than Joshua, despite being only 6ft 2in, compared to Joshua at 6ft 5in.
