"I just think the calibre and pedigree of Ortiz, even at 40, means there is enough skill and guile to give Wilder problems, certainly for the first half of the fight.

"What I like about Wilder is that he gets it done. Even against Fury you can argue he didn't deserve the draw but I have watched back that replay of the 12th-round knockdown many times and the way he throws the two punches, he follows Fury's chin. It is carefully placed work and yet he is often dismissed as a wild swinger with no boxing ability.

"He can be out-boxed by Anthony Joshua and Fury but against any one of the heavyweights in the world Wilder is no less than an even money shot."

Wilder is brilliant, box office and confusing all in one package.

He reminds me of former Premier League player Paulo Wanchope, who seemed to have arms and legs flying at all angles yet excited people and was a threat.

Why it is so confusing is if I was taking a kid to the gym to teach him how to box, I would start with the fundamentals of transferring your weight from your back foot, up, through your body and out to your connecting fist.

Wilder, by comparison, is in the air, feet off the floor, hits someone with a punch from a crazy angle and they are out. I simply cannot explain that and boxing is the only thing in the world I truly understand.

Following on from that 12-Second Challenge video, here is the current leaderboard.

We've had one or two complaints that Carl Frampton and Josh Warrington were not throwing the big shots needed. We went to VAR and decided they stand.

Shout out to Rocky Fielding, Liam Smith and Martin Murray for their variety and heavy hands.

Again, try it and send a video to #bbcboxing.

Callum Smith watched his three brothers box for world titles and when his time came, he grabbed the WBA world super-middleweight belt from George Groves last year.

    No mean feat.

Now there is talk of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, of Gennady Golovkin, of fights at Anfield... and yet one bad night can take it all away.

John Ryder wants to be the dream snatcher on this November night in Liverpool. He knows he has a big ask before him but let's be honest, anything can happen in this game.
