Kevin Barry is the man who predicted an Andy Ruiz Jr win when everyone else was already considering what would be next for Anthony Joshua after their fight.

"I had history with Andy," says Barry, trainer of former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.

"In 2013 I was asked if I would train him. Had the opportunity not been so exciting with Parker, I probably would have.

"In the first year we ended up sparring Ruiz. The first time, Joseph looked at this overweight guy joking around in the ring and looked at me disbelieving and said: 'Are you serious?'

"Within the first 15 seconds Andy hit him about 20 times. On the way home, Joseph apologised to me."

  5. 'I'm as tough as old boots'published at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

Whyte beats Wach by unanimous decision

Dillian Whyte tells Sky Sports: "I boxed nowhere near my standard. My mind hasn't been in the right place with all I've had to put up with these last six months. I came in about a stone and a half overweight, I wanted to stop him but he's tough.

"I've been screwed over the last couple of months but I've stuck at it - I am as tough as old boots.

"I went from being a hero to being a nobody. My team have stuck by me and I thank them for that and for getting me out here for this show.

"I feel great to have made because it was a dark place a few months ago."

    Breaking

    Whyte v Wach

And it goes the way of Dillian Whyte!

All three judges have the British fighter up on on their cards.

Anthony Joshua remains the only man to have beaten the 31-year-old.

Kyle Walker: I have my money on the 7th, Ruiz will have either sussed Joshua, or Joshua will have knocked him out. Time for Joshua to get back to his old way of fighting if he’s to win.

Nana Obo: Ruiz's quick hands plus Joshua weighing in lighter worries me.

  8. Round 10 - who gets the decision?published at 19:19 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Whyte v Wach

Mariusz Wach comes out with a spring in his step but is quickly checked by the smaller man as Dillian Whyte reels him in and strings a right through the Polish fighter's tiring defence.

Wach knows he'll have to stop this if he's to avoid another loss... Whyte hits back with a left-right-left and then with a tidy counter left-hook that rattles the cheek bone of his 39-year-old opponent.

Wach's gone all Bambi on ice, legs teetering, feet slightly unsteady on the canvas, and Whyte looks to end it as Wach wrestles to regain composure.

    And that's the final bell...

  9. Round ninepublished at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Whyte v Wach

    Right, two to go...

Dillian Whyte decides it's time to go on the offensive as he tenderises the body of Mariusz Wach, only to see a string of counter punches coming back in his direction.

Both fighters trying to make something happen, but it's Whyte with the quicker, more aggressive blows. He slaps the Polish fighter on the cheek, but that's a strong finish from Wach.

Both looking tired now. Big final round to go.

  10. Round eightpublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Whyte v Wach

Nice counter right from Dillian Whyte there, strolling nonchalantly along the ropes and then catching Mariusz Wach on the chin. Whyte slaps the Polish fighter with a flurry of jabs and ducks out of a left from his opponent.

He's backed up on to the ropes as Wach lands a right-hander and has to roll away - Wach catches him again with a late left and Whyte stumbles slightly.

Didn't have it all his own way there.

Jay Shareef: My prediction for #AJRuiz2, external: This will all be over in 6 rounds. And the belts are coming back to Britain.

James Vigar: Witnessing Ruiz Jr's weight it's hard not to recall James Buster Douglas post-Tyson shock. It didn't end well for him!

  12. Round sevenpublished at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Whyte v Wach

Mariusz Wach looks a touch tired, he left his body open for Dillian Whyte to take his pick of the ribs there.

Wach trundles backwards as Whyte goes after him once more but the Polish fighter then throws a right in response.

Whyte sticks his head into the veteran, and then comes down with a right on top of the former world title challenger. Still in control, for me.

  14. Round sixpublished at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Whyte v Wach

Mariusz Wach takes it to Dillian Whyte in the sixth, perhaps feeling his has to go for it before running out of gas. Whyte stills looks composed and controlled, just stepping on the accelerator briefly when he needs to.

He digs a jab into the nose of Wach, and then goes hunting for the body with a flurry of left-handers.

Wach sticks it to the Brit on the ropes before the bell but Whyte covers up and comes out unscathed.

  16. Round fivepublished at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Whyte v Wach

    Half-way there...

Have to say I've heard rowdier atmospheres in Manchester's Northern Quarter on Mad Friday.

Wach suddenly comes alive and ups the tempo towards the end of the fifth and that gets the crowd going somewhat - it wakes Whyte up too, he delivers a telling right before the bell.

Matt on the left has recently moved to Saudi Arabia but the British expat tells me he’s already seen change in a country loosening rules as it seeks to modernise its way of life.

His mate Mel has flown in for the big fight from London and both seem bang up for it, even in the absence of the drinks that normally loosen the vocal chords on these big boxing nights.

  18. Round fourpublished at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Whyte v Wach

Forget Clash on the Dunes, this is Punches in Ponchos at the moment.

Dillian Whyte wheels towards his opponent with a winding right arm, silver gloves flashing through the Riyadh sky as he looks to connect with the bleach-blonde barnet of Wach.

Wach goes in for a little afters following the bell, Whyte just pedals away towards his corner.

One relentless man on his second poncho of the night.

  20. Round threepublished at 18:50 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Whyte v Wach

It's a tentative atmosphere in Saudi Arabia so far for this one - the loudest person in the temporary arena is the main in Mariusz Wach's corner, talking his charge through every punch.

Wach pops one into the stomach of Dillian Whyte and that prompts a backlash from the Brixton bruiser, who is controlling the distance and tempo so far.
