I thought I saw someone with a strong mind this week and he produced a performance to match here.
He is now once again a significant factor in the heavyweight division.

Great sportsmanship after the fight as Whyte and Povetkin embrace back-stage.
Sulaimon Adelekan: I admire Dillian Whyte's sportsmanship after the bout. He is more than a champion.

"Whyte’s concentration was strong. When Povetkin was launching the odd attack he was reading that and not taking the chances he took last time around. This was a performance of someone who had learned from last time around, in the way that he learned from the defeat to Anthony Joshua
I remember him telling me that it was the Joshua defeat that turned him into a professional boxer."
Dillian Whyte brought in Lennox Lewis' former coach, Harold 'The Shadow' Knight for this fight.
Knight helped Lennox to two rematch victories and has now helped Whyte to win his rematch.
"Well Dillian already had a good solid jab. We just had to remind him to use it," Knight told Sky Sports.
"It is the Dillian Whyte show, we're just the supporting actors. The show is just beginning right now."

"The key emotion for Whyte will be relief because of all those doors being closed if he didn’t win this evening, in the way that they have now closed for Povetkin.
This opens up a whole range of opportunities. Yes, he might have to wait for that world title chance but he’s used to that.
At least now he is back in a position where he can barter on the back of the performance that he’s produced tonight."
The sportsmanship didn't stop there as Dillian Whyte went to Alexander Povetkin's dressing room after the fight with the two shaking hands.

Whyte knocks out Povetkin
Natasha Jonas
First female British Olympic boxer on BBC Radio 5 Live sports extra
"Povetkin looked almost desperate. The pressure of needing to win and the expectation weighs differently on different fighters and Dillian proved tonight that he can do it."
Whyte knocks out Povetkin
British trainer Peter Fury on BBC Radio 5 Live: "A very controlled display. Maybe Povetkin had the first round but then Dillian Whyte started walking away with it.
Now Whyte has got past this he’ll perform even better because there was a lot of pressure on this fight. The future’s bright."
Promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking to Sky Sports: "There was a lot of talk about his career being on the line tonight. It was wild in here tonight, so good to see fans in Gibraltar.
"He wanted the energy, his world championship dreams were on the line tonight. It was a lot of pressure tonight.
"We called for Deontay Wilder for a long time. He DM'd Dillian and said he wouldn't give him that fight.
"But he got knocked out and now wants it, that's a stadium fight.
"The ultimate aim has been for Whyte to challenge for the world heavyweight title. Tonight was about getting his career back on track.
"Coming back from the knockout was not easy. We are back where we wanted to be, we go again and the goal remains the same - to have a shot at the world heavyweight title. I hope the WBC make him mandatory immediately and we move forward."
Whyte knocks out Povetkin
Mike Costello
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live
"In the aftermath of the fight I’m sure there will be those who dismiss Povetkin as 'gone at 41', or too affected after contracting Covid-19, but there weren't too many people saying that in the build-up to the contest.
Many good judges thought Povetkin would do exactly the same again as in the first fight."
Whyte knocks out Povetkin
British trainer Peter Fury on BBC Radio 5 Live: "It was a faultless performance. Povetkin got beat – it wasn’t because he was an old man – he got beat fair and square. Whyte has a tremendous left hook, that would have put anyone over. It was a good calculated performance."

Dillian Whyte, speaking to Sky Sports: "I am just sad I didn't get it finished in the first round. He is a tough guy but I felt I could have finished it early.
"I am ready to fight again. If he wants a rematch. I am annoyed I lost the first time.
"From the first round I was on to him but then I was like let me relax. He is an Olympic gold medallist. He is very strong still.
"I believe I can beat anyone. This camp was a bit annoying because of the reschedule. I was in much better shape than this.
"I want the world title!"
