WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who may face the winner next: "I'd much prefer to beat Joshua up, it's a bigger fight and people want to see it more. He's got a tough fight, you know?

"Usyk is no mug. People say to me, 'He's too small' and this and that but the guy is bigger than Muhammad Ali, he's bigger than Mike Tyson and he's bigger than Holyfield. He's definitely a good fighter. If he [Usyk] does [win] then he will cost us a few quid."

I am not sure if Usyk has any fear in him. He puts his head down, he looks forward and the smile he does, it scares me.

  9. 'If I was fighting King Kong, I'd give it a go'published at 21:49 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Some quotes from Anthony Joshua for you now: "I wasn't on the amateur scene long enough to know much about Oleksandr but when I turned professional I did a lot of research and I love the Ukrainian style and the Ukrainian people.

"He was fighting 10 or 12 years as an amateur before he went to the Olympics, and worlds so he is probably happy to be in this position - the cream always rises to the top.

"I love throwback fighters. I do watch a lot of boxing and I don't fight good people just to get respect.

"If you tell me I was fighting King Kong I would give it a go. This is my job. I'm going to work. It's the best days of my life."

  10. Froch: AJ can't outbox Usykpublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

It's really loud in here now as we await the main event. Still a while away.

I can only imagine the noise when Anthony Joshua makes the walk, should have brought my ear plugs.

Back to the fight, and speaking to Carl Froch at the weigh-ins, the former world champion is hoping for an AJ win - but insisted Joshua cannot outbox Oleksandr Usyk.

Carl Froch: "I think AJ will be able to adapt. It’s not going to be easy, he’ll struggle, but I think he’ll get the win. I think he’ll be big enough, strong enough and he’ll get to him.

"If he doesn’t get to him he loses on points. My prediction is I don’t actually know.

"I’m predicting AJ to win. I want him to smash him to bits. But I don’t think AJ can outbox Usyk. I don’t think he’s got the ability.”

Chris17: What will happen is an awkward but ultimately routine AJ win, followed by Fury beating Wilder again. Then months of negotiations going in circles until some mandatory challenger is pushed forward by one of the self-serving organisations that don’t really want an undisputed champion and mean either AJ vacating a belt or taking another fight again proving how stupid the system is.

Jsh1pp: Usyk is up there as one of the best fighters of his generation. Trouble is I'm yet to be convinced he's a heavyweight. Question is can he handle the power? The old saying in boxing 'a good big guy beats a good little guy' so AJ by KO would be favourite but it's one where if the chin holds up and he can move well enough at the weight to not get caught clean early on points Usyk has a shot.

Peter Rogers: If Usyk isn't blown away by the difference in size he wins. Ruiz found Joshua out.

  17. 'Usyk will get laid out'published at 21:41 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Former European heavyweight champion Derek Chisora, who lost to Usyk in 2020: "One thing AJ has that Usyk doesn't is the knockout punch. It might take six rounds, seven rounds, but I can guarantee you Usyk will get laid out. AJ will get to him."

  20. 'I think AJ is gun shy now'published at 21:37 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Tyson Fury's co-promoter Frank Warren: "Joshua looks a bit slimmer - he's going for speed. He's got to be more mobile against Usyk. He should win this fight. He should be too big and too strong for a fella that is really a cruiserweight.

"I know he's come up to heavyweight, but he's in his early thirties and could probably still make cruiserweight if he wanted to. But, it's going to be interesting to see if he can get rid of him.

"If Usyk is still there after six rounds I think he'll give AJ a problem. If he's still there at the end then I can see him winning it on points. To be there he'd have to outbox him. I think AJ is gun shy now."
