Tyson Fury goaded Deontay Wilder into a shouting match at the final press conference ahead of their trilogy fight.

A tense affair erupted during the closing statements as defending WBC champion Fury insisted Wilder's legacy was tarnished and he should retire from boxing.

"You're in denial and you're getting knocked out. Do yourself a favour and retire from boxing. Your legacy is in bits," Fury said.

"Even all your excuses have been destroyed. No one's even believed you. They're all laughing at you." He added: "You're a weak man, you're getting knocked out."

Wilder rose to the taunts of Fury, shouting back retorts and insisted his opponent had no power over him.

"I don't have to fight another day in my life, I am good - can you say the same thing? Nervous energy," he replied as Fury insulted him.

  5. 'That makes two losers!'published at 23:06 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

Tyson Fury is spitting now, getting angrier at being accused by Wilder of tampering with his own gloves in their second fight.

"I knocked you out dosser," he says. "Jay Deas [in Wilder's corner] was he in on it too? He was in the room when I put the gloves on! I don't need to defend titles, that's for dossers like you.

"You have come dressed like a tramp, dressed like me on a training day. You will only be remembered for getting knocked out by me.

"You are a loser and are being trained by a loser, so that makes two losers."

Finally from Deontay Wilder: "I don't have to fight another day in my life, I am good - can you say the same thing? Nervous energy.

"My family have an understanding, my children have an understanding, that daddy has a dangerous job - no other sport has claimed as many lives as boxing, they understand."

Tyson Fury questions why Deontay Wilder has not put extra steps in to stop him cheating, if the American is so convinced his opponent did the last time round?

"If I have done all this cheating, then why has he not done any extra steps to stop me cheating again?

"What have you done... I had knuckle dusters, turbo jets on my feet, you are in denial and you are going to get knocked out, do yourself a favour and retire, your legacy is in bits.

"All the excuses and no one believes you, they are all laughing at you. A million excuses."

  8. 'Egg in your face'published at 22:59 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

Tyson Fury: "There's something I need to say, Wilder said I only won the second fight because I cheated, but then he changes his whole team, trains as hard as he ever has. I ask, if I only won because I cheated, what was the point of changing everything? No one can answer, so have egg in your face.

"He says he wants to do bad things to me and hurt me, for those who hold a hot coal with the intention of throwing it at somebody, they are the ones who get burned. I don't want to hurt Deontay Wilder, I just want to beat him in a fight.

"Guess what, after this fight you will be back at the fast food chain you were working at early in your career."

It had all been tense, but polite so far. No more. Now they're just screaming at each other.

There's not too much security on that stage so it may get a bit rough.

  11. 'Prepare yourself on the battlefield'published at 22:54 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

The fighters are offered a chance for their "final statements".

Deontay Wilder keeps it brief and says: "I tell you guys to prepare yourself on the battlefield and get ready for war.

"It is going to be an amazing fight, I am wearing my red outfit so I want to beckon blood. I am looking forward to it."

  12. 'There is just love for each other'published at 22:52 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

Deontay Wilder speaking about trainer Malik Scott: "When we first met, the energy was a connection. When we fought each other it brought us closer, you need people you can trust in this sport.

"It is a money-driven sport, so many loopholes, even when you think the ones who really love you - you have them at your dinner table with your children, but with him, I don't have a big entourage, there is just a love for each other."

    "Get a room!" barks Fury.

    It's getting a bit feisty.

  13. 'Always something to learn in boxing'published at 22:50 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

And then it's back to Fury's trainer SugarHill Steward, who says: "Tyson is very conscious of Deontay Wilder, it is being sharp and staying focused, learning more - there is always something to learn in boxing, Tyson has taken that very well.

"Having fun, learning, trying to execute and be the best you can be, I am excited for this Saturday to see what Deontay and Malik have been working on - my man Malik, I have known him for a while, it is exciting to be in this position, putting it all to work on Saturday."

  14. 'We have an answer for anything Fury does'published at 22:48 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

More now from Wilder's trainer Malik Scott: "Deontay's fundamentals were easy, he has them but just a lot of times didn't use them.

"He is fighting Tyson Fury, and a great brain like SugarHill - I approach a fight like it's the opponent and brain behind the opponent.

"We have an answer for anything Tyson Fury does."

  15. 'We have got a great bond'published at 22:47 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

Tyson Fury: "Me and Sugar go back to 2010, Detroit City, we have got a great bond. You have to have good communication and me and SugarHill have got that - we gel together, similar personalities.

"It is not easy for me to pick a trainer because I do outlandish things and I am outspoken, I have definitely found a match with Sugar here."

  16. 'Unstoppable'published at 22:45 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

Tyson Fury's trainer SugarHill Steward: "Training Tyson Fury has been pretty much making him better, he was already an exceptional boxer - fine tuning those skills, allowing him to see things he didn't see, and making sure he is ready. Tyson Fury when ready is unstoppable."

  17. 'Deontay got content using one weapon to knock people out'published at 22:44 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

Malik Scott, who is Deontay Wilder's new trainer, says: "I am a student of the game, Deontay ruled the heavyweight division and was using one weapon but sometimes two or three.

"But over the years being in training camp, a lot of those things disappear and it was because he got content using one weapon to knock people out - I went into his tool box and made sure we didn't do it by accident, drill it over and over again.

"I don't have him doing choreographed pad work, ducking down to the ground, he is fighting a tall guy. I don't want my fighter catching punches, I want him to slip punches, parry punches."

Tyson Fury, who has had well-documented mental health problems in the past, says: "Mental health struggles are no joke, you can never get over it, it is not 'if' but definitely 'when'.

"It will always creep back into your life at some point - if you don't take the right procedures you will end up in a bad position like I was, but now I am flying, undefeated in 30 odd fights, still good looking, lost my hair but whatever, still a fine specimen of a man. Life is good."

  20. 'People take my words out of context'published at 22:37 British Summer Time 6 October 2021

Deontay Wilder: "My energy is like my mind, very violent. I am ready to go on 9 October. I have dedicated myself, devoted my time and my body, me and my team, reinvented, I am ready to reintroduce myself to the world.

"I will let you be the judge come Saturday night. I have learned to choose my words wisely, people always take my words out of context, at this point it is all action - action, action action.

"I don't have many words to say, I wasn't even planning on talking today."
