    Thanks for joining us tonight.

It wasn't the fight we expected seven days ago but Anthony Joshua got the result he wanted - victory with a stunning one-punch knockout against late replacement Robert Helenius.

It looks like a mega-fight with Deontay Wilder could be on the cards in early 2024.

I just want to see AJ fight someone of the calibre of Robert Helenius and treat him like Wilder. He can't just stand there and jab, it doesn't work against Wilder. He will run through him.

That's back-to-back wins for Anthony Joshua after his decision victory against Jermaine Franklin in April.

It's the 23rd knockout win of his career and his first since stopping Kubrat Pulev 2020.

Helenius has only lost four times by knockout in a 37-fight career.

  6. 'This is the AJ you're going to see now'published at 00:08 British Summer Time 13 August 2023

    Joshua beats Helenius by knockout

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Eddie Hearn spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live: "The guy is six foot eight, he can punch a bit, AJ doesn't want to take any chances. This is the AJ you're going to see now, no chances. There's a lot on the line. The late replacement was difficult, but I'm just happy he's delivered the knockout of the year.

Potential Deontay Wilder fight: "We hope it's imminent. That's why he wanted the Dillian Whyte fight, it's hard for him to get up to fights like this. If he hits Wilder on the chin then it's over. This is about Anthony Joshua now, it's not about pleasing others. He's given everything to British boxing."

Anthony Joshua speaking on DAZN: "People need to leave me alone, this is my time in the ring. Let me keep doing what I want to do. Helenius, I told him to come again. I think he can cause people a lot of problems. I don't want to say too much. I want to see you again two more times this year."

On Deontay Wilder fight: "My back's gone, is there a doctor in here? I want to carry this heavyweight division to the top!"

    Joshua beats Helenius by knockout

There was a lot of emotion on show from Joshua when Helenius hit the canvas.

Joshua climbed straight out of the ring, walked towards the fans and eventually ended up having a beer with Conor McGregor.

He has since returned to the ring to hug Helenius after he'd been treated by the medics and received some oxygen.

In the corner before round seven, Joshua said to trainer Derrick James "it's hard to find the right hand."

Derrick replied "keep trying" and AJ just seemed to shrug his shoulders.

    Joshua v Helenius

Halfway through and it's more of the same.

Joshua continues to stay out of range whenever he gets the opportunity.

He gets Helenius backed up on the ropes and then decides to step away. It's a world away from the Joshua we saw early in his career when he'd go hunting for the knockout and more often than not get it.

  18. Round fivepublished at 23:40 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    Joshua v Helenius

Helenius hasn't been too active but the jabs he has thrown are landing. There is some swelling under the right eye of Joshua.

The Finn has some blood coming from his nose but he's definitely grown in confidence.

Helenius had a little bit of success landing the jab, but there's no weight in the shot. You need that in heavyweight boxing.

  20. Round fourpublished at 23:37 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    Joshua v Helenius

Joshua throws a right, misses but follows up with a left and has Helenius backed up on to the ropes. For a moment the atmosphere raises but then it's back to being hesitant.

He seems really happy to stay at range.
