  1. Football's new era up and runningpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

That's all from this live text.

It was certainly an intriguing day as Gaelic football entered its brave new era with the 'enhanced' playing rules.

All in all, the teams seemed to adapt fairly smoothly but there is bound to be a few teething issues as the league progresses.

It was a good night for Tyrone, anyway, with an impressive win over Paddy Tally's Derry in Malachy O'Rourke's first game as Red Hands boss.

There was disappointment for Armagh, however, as they fell to a resurgent Galway in Salthill.

There was also defeat for the Antrim hurlers in Croke Park as Dublin proved too strong for Davy Fitzgerald's side.

Head here for all the reports and reaction.

  2. 'New rules were grand'published at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Tyrone 2-13 Derry 1-9

Man of the match Tyrone's Michael McKernan speaking to BBC Sport NI: "They were grand [the new rules], we have been playing them the last few weeks in a few challenge games and in training. Getting used to them be hard but we just have to."

On new boss Malachy O'Rourke: "Everyone knows what Malachy has done in county football with Monaghan and club football with Glen, and we're just taking all the advice he gives us and we keep driving on for Tyrone."

  3. 'No massive chaos or confusion with new rules'published at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Tyrone 2-13 Derry 1-9

    Chrissy McKaigue
Former Derry captain on BBC iPlayer

There was no massive chaos or confusion. The game does look differently, there is no doubt about that, but I find it hard to see a two-point kick outside the arc should be two points, our scoring system wasn't something ever really questioned.

I'm very traditionalist with the score system, it is not the biggest thing, I will leave here again saying I'm not a fan of the kickout, I can see merit in a lot of things, but not the kickout.

  4. 'Tyrone have defended really well'published at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Tyrone 2-13 Derry 1-9

    Chrissy McKaigue
Former Derry captain on BBC iPlayer

One of the most impressive things has been Tyrone's defence, they have defended really well, and Derry have had to work for the scores they have got. They look to have got their mean streak in defence back.

The hooter sounds (another change) and Tyrone are seven-point winners.

Another high-scoring encounter this evening with Rory Beggan emerging as a real threat from beyond the arc.

  7. Tyrone hit first two-pointerpublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Tyrone 2-13 Derry 1-9

Darren McCurry gets Tyrone's first two-pointer and they are finishing this game very well after a poor third quarter.

That's surely enough for Tyrone to win this game.

  8. Sparky's backpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Tyrone 2-11 Derry 1-9

Mattie Donnelly is on free-taking duties now and scores.

Then McElholm tags on a point.

But the biggest cheer is reserved for the introduction of Mark 'Sparky' Bradley for his first minutes in a Tyrone shirt since quitting the panel in 2021.

A great finish from Eoin McElholm and he can do that, he has a bit of stardust.

Goal for Tyrone - Peter Teaguepublished at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Tyrone 2-8 Derry 1-9

Tyrone scramble in a second goal.

Peter Teague gets the final touch after Niall Devlin is held up on the line. A superb pass from Morgan to Ciaran Daly set it up.

You'd have to say the goal is against the run of play.

  13. Beggan on-songpublished at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Cavan 0-17 Monaghan 2-17

Rory Beggan’s third score from outside the arc means Monaghan maintain a healthy six-point lead over Cavan.

Sean McEvoy has been lively for the hosts and has just tagged on another point.

    60 minutes gone.

McGuigan's free brings the sides level for a third time.

Then he lands another one from a difficult angle and that's the first time Derry have been in front since the opening 10 minutes.

Morgan's kickouts are not finding their intended targets and it's been all Derry in this half.
