Max Verstappen is up to second place behind leader George Russell but his Red Bull team-mate, who hasn't pitted, is falling down the order. The Mexican has lost places to Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton and now Lando Norris.
Sainz is third, Charles Leclerc is fourth, Hamilton is fifth and Norris is back to sixth.

Pierre Gasly is in the right place at the right time and is able to safely make his way back to the pits without causing any issues on track. The Alpine crew are on the scene straight away to see what the problem is.

You've gained [Lewis Hamilton], you've lost a lot in terms of those in front of you who have not pitted but it's certainly been a gain for him. He's probably more frustrated that he's been released into traffic.
Lewis Hamilton's time has come to pit and he heads back out on the hard tyre and into ninth place. The Briton is not happy, however, asking his engineer: "How many places have I lost?!"
George Russell leads, Sergio Perez, who started on the hards, is up to second and Max Verstappen is third.
Coming into this race we weren't sure the undercut would be that powerful as it takes quite a while for these hard tyres to come in, it's a better race tyre but perhaps it will take a while for the tyre to come up to performance.
I'm seeing a lot of debris flying around here in the paddock and you can see it on the track as well.

Mercedes call in George Russell to ditch his mediums for the hard tyres, making Lewis Hamilton the new leader of this Las vegas Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion is staying out on his starting mediums.
Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda bashes in to the speed limit sign during his trip trying to juggle the traffic. It's all kicking off now.
George Russell leads, Lewis Hamilton is now up to second and Nico Hulkenberg has climbed to third with all these pit stops.
Max Verstappen is next from the front to pit and take the hard tyre and the title-chaser rejoins the action ahead of rival Lando Norris in sixth place.
Carlos Sainz is next to pit and the order is beginning to change. Oscar Piastri has had to serve a five-second penalty for a false start during his pit stop.
Sainz heads out in 12th, Piastri is down in 18th place now.
Something is very wrong with that Ferrari whether it's tyres or not I don't know but Charles Leclerc is losing a second per sector at the moment to the cars around him.

What's happened to Charles Leclerc? Not only has he lost a place to team-mate Carlos Sainz, he's now also been overtaken by the Red Bull of Max Verstappen. He finds himself back in fourth spot, with the possibility his medium tyres have worked too hard of a shift already.
Lando Norris is through on Pierre Gasly for fifth and Lewis Hamilton has passed Oscar Piastri for eighth.
