Right that is practice done for the day.

Mercedes' George Russell is the fastest car in this session.

Lando Norris is in the second spot and rookie Kimi Antonelli is third.

It hasn't been the greatest session for Max Verstappen, he's had a few issues and only managed ninth, after topping the leaderboard in FP1.

  6. Team radio - Bortoleto to Sauberpublished at 23:01 British Summer Time 13 June

"Mate, what is this guy doing?! [Sainz] is lifting and then going on power, then lifting. Does he want to crash or what?!"

  7. Postpublished at 23:00 British Summer Time 13 June

Oh dear, Gabriel Bortoleto is on the radio and he is not happy.

He got into traffic with Carlos Sainz and the pair nearly hit each other in the final chicane.

"Does he want to crash or what?" he said on the radio.

It's been a terrible triple-header for Mercedes and they really lost a lot of points - and confidence for Kimi Antonelli. He's a rookie and he's come into the season all guns blazing and thinking, yes, I'm going to nail this.

He got pole in Miami for the sprint race and ever since that point, it's gone down hill. And he needs to re-establish his confidence in the team, and it's really hard to react when you're in the middle of a triple-header.

So hopefully the week before Canada, and the week after, will just give him some breathing space, some time with the team - not as pressurised - to think what's going on, what I can change, what do I need to address here, and get himself back on track.

Kimi Antonelli is putting in a good performance.

The rookie looks like he has put the triple-header behind him, his Mercedes is currently third.

George Russell, Alex Albon and Max Verstappen are on the medium compounds.

The rest of the pack are on the new C6 soft tyres.

It is only a practice session but George Russell and Mercedes will be happy with his performance so far this weekend. He continues at the top.

Lando Norris can't go any faster and bounces over a kerb during a turn.

Haas have a special livery for the Canadian Grand Prix. It will be their 200th race as a team.

To top off a lovely look, they have displayed the names of all their current staff on the front wing.

A lovely tribute to all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

  15. 'I don’t expect it to be easy'published at 22:45 British Summer Time 13 June

McLaren's Lando Norris spoke to BBC Sport's Andrew Benson on his season so far: "Of course it has been a difficult season, because we are fighting for the championship. I’ve got a strong teammate, we’ve got strong competitors, racing the best in the world.

"I don’t expect it to be easy but I’ve had a few setbacks along the way, more than I would have liked, some difficulties but it has been a successful season, two wins, plenty of podiums and strong races, I say it has been successful.

"Has it been the perfect or dream start? Maybe not but it has been a start that is needed in order to fight for the championship, that’s consistency, strong results, a win now and again, that’s what I managed to do, not perfect but something I'm still happy with."

  16. Postpublished at 22:43 British Summer Time 13 June

Max Verstappen is back out on track. He was complaining about the rear of his car jumping around earlier on in second practice.

Is the new front suspension working for McLaren's Lando Norris? I think so - he is sitting comfortably in P2.

  17. Postpublished at 22:41 British Summer Time 13 June

I've not spotted any groundhogs running around the circuit today, the action on track might be keeping them entertained.

There is just 20 minutes left of second practice, George Russell is still at the top of the leaderboard.

"I almost crashed" he said to the Alpine team.
