Cork recovered from a poor start to lead 1-8 to 0-9 at half-time with Chris Og Jones scoring their goal with a composed finish.

Dublin were much improved in the second half with the forward trio of Cormac Costello, Paddy Small and Sean Bugler helping the hosts to a win after Brian Howard's goal had got them back in the game.

  5. 'When it comes to football, he's very serious about winning'published at 13:40 British Summer Time 22 June

    Down v Galway (13:45 BST)

Our own Mark Sidebottom caught up with Galway star Shane Walsh this week

"I know Down manager Conor Laverty is a gent off the field, but when it comes to football, he's very serious about winning. You know exactly what way he is going to create his atmosphere in Down this weekend," said Walsh.

"You embrace that because the more hostile environments - and it tends to be that way when you go across the border with the crowd involved a lot more - makes for a better atmosphere.

    Pairc Esler, 13:45 BST

A huge crowd has descended upon Newry for this preliminary quarter-final in the All-Ireland SFC with the stands and terraces filling up and supporters continue to stream in.

It may be a long way from Galway, but there is plenty of maroon on show, yet naturally, red and black is the predominant colour with the Down fans out in force.

Both teams are in their change kit today with Galway in white and Down going for the black jerseys.

  7. Team news - Down v Galwaypublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 22 June

    Pairc Esler, 13:45 BST

Down boss Conor Laverty initially made one change to his Down side ahead of their All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final tie against Galway at Pairc Esler.

Eugene Branagan was preferred to Adam Crimmins, but in a late switch, the roles will be reversed with Crimmins starting ahead of Brannigan, meaning it's the same team that began against MOnaghan last week.

Laverty's side have reached this stage of the competition after back-to-back wins against Clare and Louth in their opening two group games.

Last year's Footballer of the Year Paul Conroy returns to start for Galway.

He replaces Peter Cooke after a strong showing off the bench in the thrilling victory over Armagh which secured their place in the preliminary quarter-finals.

There is also a change in defence as Cian Hernon comes in for Jack Glynn.

Damien Comer is on the bench after missing the Armagh win through injury as Conor Flaherty retains his place between the posts ahead of Connor Gleeson.

One change to the Galway panel will see John O'Neill replace Cathal Sweeney on the bench.

We're at the semi-final stage of the Tailteann Cup too with Wicklow and Limerick up first before Fermanagh and Kildare go head-to-head.
