  1. Down ease relegation fears with Westmeath winpublished at 13:39 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Down 1-26 Westmeath 0-28

A last-gasp score from Adam Crimmins saw Down beat Westmeath and boosted the Mournemen's Allianz League Division Two survival hopes.

The scores were level at 1-25 to 0-28 as the hooter neared but replacement Crimmins' fisted point secured a much needed victory for Conor Laverty's men and relegated their opponents in the process.

The victory takes Down level on points with Cork and Louth, who meet at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday.

One of that trio is most likely to join Westmeath in Division Three next season, although Cavan, currently two points ahead, could be dragged into the mix should they lose both their remaining fixtures.

Down finish their campaign away to league leaders Monaghan on 23 March.

  4. McGeeney 'doubts' O'Neill will play for Armagh in 2025published at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Allianz Football League

Armagh boss Kieran McGeeney has said that he doesn't expect Rian O'Neill to be available for the All-Ireland champions this season.

The Crossmaglen man has not featured for Armagh this year and McGeeney said following his team's opening League game in Galway in late January that O'Neill was "taking a few months to himself", adding: "I don't know whether it's weeks or months".

There were reports a couple of weeks ago that O'Neill was set to return to the squad but following Armagh's 2-21 to 0-17 Division One defeat by Kerry on Saturday night, McGeeney cast doubt on any likelihood of the All-Star playing for his county in 2025.

"We will not see Rian for a good while, I would say," said McGeeney.

Asked whether he expected O'Neill to feature in the championship, the Armagh manager replied: "I would doubt it. He has his own stuff going on. As I said, I don't like to go into fellas' personal lives. We just have to respect that and let him do what he has to do.

"Give the fella the space. He deserves that. I am trying to do it for him."

  6. Rogers ruled out for Derrypublished at 13:31 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Derry v Mayo (13:30)

The standout feature from Derry's selection is the absence of Brendan Rogers who is ruled out after picking up an ankle injury in the defeat by Donegal two weeks ago.

Rogers is replaced by former minor captain Patrick McGurk who will be making his first start for the Oak Leafers.

Niall Toner is drafted into the Derry attack while a late change sees Niall Loughlin taking over from Lachlan Murray in the the full-forward line.

Mayo make two take changes to their attack as Conor Reid and Jack Carney replace Davitt Neary and Darren McHale.

Aidan O'Shea starts for Kevin McStay's side.

    Derry: O Lynch; D Baker, E McEvoy, M Bradley; C Doherty, P McGrogan, P McGurk; C Glass, A Tohill; E Doherty, N Toner, D Higgins; N Loughlin, S McGuigan, P Cassidy.

    Mayo: C Reape; J Coyne, D McHugh, E Hession; S Callinan, D McBrien, F Kelly; S Coen, M Ruane; D Reid, J Carney, J Flynn; A O'Shea, F Irwin, R O'Donoghue.

  7. Oak Leafers reach league last-chance saloonpublished at 13:12 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Allianz Football League: Division One

It seems like we've been in the business end of this fiercely competitive Allianz Football League Division One campaign since the end of January but we really are there now in this weekend's penultimate round of fixtures.

The equation is simple for Derry today. Last year's league champions must beat Mayo at Celtic Park (1:30 GMT) to maintain any hopes of avoiding the drop to Division Two.

Even if they beat a Mayo side who themselves need the points to virtually guarantee Division One safety, Derry are still going to be bottom of the table going into next weekend.

However, the required result this afternoon and an away victory at the Athletic Grounds next Sunday could mean the most unlikely of escapes for Paddy Tally's side and, in the process, potentially relegate All-Ireland champions Armagh who remain near the drop zone after losing in Tralee yesterday.

After we cover every catch and kick from Celtic Park, our text commentary then moves to Donegal's contest with relegation-threatened Tyrone in Letterkenny.

With Donegal mulling over whether they want to be involved in a Division One Final a week before their Ulster Championship clash with Derry, Tyrone's need unquestionably looks the greater today as sit in seventh spot - only two points ahead of Derry.

Malachy O'Rourke's Red Hands beat Derry in their opener in late January but since then, Tyrone's only league point came last time out when they drew in Galway.

Tyrone's final game is their home contest with Dublin next weekend and that looks a tough closer with the Dubs probably happy enough to chase the victory which most likely would put them in the final.

As well as today's Division One games, we'll have score updates Divisions Two and Three with Monaghan and Cavan involved in big promotion contests as they travel to Meath and Roscommon and Antrim involved in a high-pressure contest against Sligo where victory will secure safety for the Saffrons but defeat will drop them into the relegation spots going into next weekend.

Please enjoy the ride with us today.
