    Hughes

    This is cruel.

England's Zharnel Hughes completes a lap of honour with the cross of St George on his back, thinking he has bagged gold.

It is only as he is about to hit the media zone that a turquoise-jacketed official breaks the news.

    Women's 10m platform final

Meaghan Benfeito looks like she's done enough to earn back-to-back Commonwealth titles.

The Canadian scores 67.20 for her inward three-and-a-half somersaults and extends her lead to 34 points.

Silver Medal - Kyle Langford (England)published at 13:20 British Summer Time 12 April 2018

    Athletics: Men's 800m final

With 150m to go, Kyle Langford looked finished in sixth. But an incredible sprint takes him to the silver. Wycliffe Kinyamal was slowing up thinking he had it in the bag with his arms aloft, a fast-finishing Kyle Langford so, so nearly catches him.

If the race was 805 metres then he would have won the gold.

Instead, he misses out on gold by five hundredths of a second.

Gold for Wycliffe Kinyamal. But only just, only just. Some showboating before the line nearly cost him the gold.

    Women's 10m platform final

There have been some pretty shoddy dives in this penultimate round.

Gemma McArthur of Scotland, Teju Williamson of Australia and Canada's Celina Toth all struggle.

Defending champion Meaghan Benfeito sails to the top of the standings with a big score of 84.80, ahead of Melissa Wu of Australia.

England's Lois Toulson also gets a massive 81.60 to move up to fourth. One dive to go.

    Hockey: Women's semi-final - Australia 1-0 India

Australia's Grace Stewart has just scored an absolute scorcher. A reverse stick slap from the right pops up in the D and Stewart volleys it home. There was no stopping that...

As it stands, Australia are going through to the final to meet New Zealand, while India face England.

Hughes decision 'fairly obvious'published at 13:12 British Summer Time 12 April 2018

    Men's 200m final

    Steve Cram
    Commentator on the Gold Coast

It's a pretty quick decision. It's actually for not running in your lane and impeding another athlete and I think it was fairly obvious.

Deliberate or not, he was right on the edge of his lane and he has been disqualified for that reason - not necessarily the arm.

  8. bronze medal

Bronze Medal - Leon Reid (Northern Ireland)published at 13:09 British Summer Time 12 April 2018

    Athletics: Men's 200m final

That disqualification for Zharnel Hughes means Northern Ireland's Leon Reid, who crossed the line fourth, is bumped up to a bronze medal.

  9. gold-medal

Gold Medal - Jareem Richards (Trinidad & Tobago)published at 13:08 British Summer Time 12 April 2018

    Athletics: Men's 200m final

He crossed the line second, with the same time as England's Zharnel Hughes. But Hughes' disqualification means Jareem Richards of Trinidad is now the Commonwealth Games champion.

Did Hughes impede Richards?published at 13:07 British Summer Time 12 April 2018

He's in the lead and going well but was he aware that Richards is coming?

Is it a deliberate attempt to impede?

Heartbreak for Zharnel Hughes. For five minutes he thought he was the Commonwealth Games champion. He has been disqualified.

Zharnel Hughes is taking a lap of honour at the moment. He thinks he has got the gold. We are not certain he has yet. It has not been confirmed.

  13. Will Hughes be disqualified?published at 13:04 British Summer Time 12 April 2018

    Athletics: Men's 200m final

Wait, there is drama, potentially. Zharnel Hughes' victory is still not official.

Seeing the race again, his arm comes out and may have impeded Jereem Richards, who was in the lane to his left.

    Women's 10m platform final

A strong two-and-a-half somersaults dive from England's Robyn Birch sees her shift up the standings, along with team-mate Lois Toulson.

Birch is fifth after the third dive, with Toulson in sixth and Scotland's Gemma McArthur, competing in her first Games, in ninth.

Malaysian Jun Hoonh Cheong - the world champion - looks like she's out of medal contention already down in seventh.

Melissa Wu of Australia continues to lead the board with two dives left.

England's Bianca Williams came sixth in the women's 200m final, and she has been talking to BBC One.

She says: "I gave it my best and that was all I could run today. It was fun, my first major final in four years. I have run a decent personal best so I can't complain.

"I'm very happy, I'm learning to love the sport, love 200 metres and love running. If I'd run this race yesterday I would be happier going into the final, but it is what it is. It is still a long way to go, but I'm getting there. I'm in decent shape."

BBC Sport cameraman Andy Halley almost learnt the hard way when a police officer found him loitering around the diving without his pass.

Fortunately she saw the funny side of it and escorted him back to where he thought he left it - despite the insistence of colleague Nick Bushell and myself that he should be handcuffed for the rest of the session as punishment.
