    What a shame!

    Joe Fraser was so close.

But he hasn't disappointed at these championships, he's been absolutely superb.

He's shown that he's human and he's been gutsy all the way around.

    Women's floor final

Ondine Achampong awaits her score... 13.033!

She's in with a real chance of a medal with that, moving top of the standings for the time being with six gymnasts to come.

Over to Canada's beam bronze medallist Emma Spence.

    Men's horizontal bar final

    Oh no!

Joe Fraser falls off the horizontal bar after a catch and release went wrong.

Oof, he hit hard on the floor, front first.

But, after a short pause to regain his composure - and breath, probably - he completes the routine.

Such a shame as that was a really difficult routine that was performed incredibly well, apart from the fall that has cost him any chance of adding to his three gold medals at these Games.

That was a sky high triple twist!

She tumbles well and she leaps enormously high.

A beautiful and elegant floor routine and that is in with a very good chance!

What a way to round-off her Commonwealth Games.

England's Ondine Achampong is up next - and it looks good! The 18-year-old all-round silver medallist produces a solid routine. Will it be enough to get her a medal?

    Men's 96kg

England's Cyrille Tchatchet II won't be getting a weightlifting medal. His coaches up his lift to 188kg to give him a chance at getting high up the leaderboard, but whatever he hurt during his first clean and jerk attempt is still affecting him.

He doesn't get set and drops the weight early into his motion.

Not this year, but he does get a great send off from the crowd as he walks off the stage.

So, will there be more home nation success in the gymnastics today?

England's Alice Kinsella and Ondine Achampong, and Welsh teenager Poppy-Grace Stickler, will be hoping to be among the medals in the floor competition.

That, and the men's horizontal bar final, will be getting under way next.

    Men's 96kg

Oh no! England's Cyrille Tchatchet II can't lift 185kg with his clean and jerk and looks to have picked up an injury while doing so.

In his second attempt he's unable to complete his lift while looking in some serious pain.

He'll have one more opportunity in a few minutes to post a score. If he was to lift 185kg he'd move into the provisional lead.

So, how many medals are England's gymnastics team going to end up with?

The tally is currently 14 - nine gold, four silver and one bronze - after Jake Jarman and Joe Fraser enjoyed more time on top of the podium today and Giarnni Regini-Moran claimed two second-place finishes.

Two events remain, with the men's horizontal bar final and women's floor final both starting at 15:40 BST at Arena Birmingham.

Fraser will bid for a fourth gold medal in the horizontal bar - attempting to match Jarman's golden haul - while fellow Englishman James Hall and Scotland duo Frank Baines and Hamish Carter are also in the final.

In the women's floor final, England's Alice Kinsella returns alongside all-around silver medallist Ondine Achampong with Poppy-Grace Stickler representing Wales.

  19. What's still to come today?published at 15:18 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

There's loads still to come today, on what is the busiest day of the Games so far. Here are a few things to look out for:

    • Gymnastics: The men's horizontal bar final from 15:40 BST features England's James Hall and Joe Fraser, and Scotland's Frank Baines and Hamish Carter, while the women's floor sees English pair Alice Kinsella and all-around silver medallist Odine Achampong, along with Wales' Poppy-Grace Stickler all in action.
    • Athletics: There are six gold medals on offer in the first night session at Alexander Stadium, with Olympic bronze medallist Holly Bradshaw in the women's pole vault, Sophie Hahn in the women's T37/38 100m, and Hannah Cockroft in the women's T33/34 100m.
    • Swimming: England's Adam Peaty qualified second fastest for the men's 50m breaststroke final, as he seeks to make amends after finishing out of the medals over 100m on Sunday, while the men's 100m butterfly includes defending champion Chad le Clos of South Africa and England's James Guy.

'Hyperactive' Jarman makes historypublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 2 August 2022

    Becky Grey
    BBC Sport at Arena Birmingham

Jake Jarman has made English Commonwealth gymnastics history with his four golds, being the most successful male gymnast for the country at a single Games.

He says he will find somewhere in his house to store his haul, adding: “Maybe a nice glass cabinet if there is space. I’m over the moon.”

The 20-year-old took up gymnastics because he “was a very hyperactive kid”.

“When I was seven or eight, I was in the park in Peterborough,” he explained.

“My mum told me a gymnastics coach was in the park at the same time and told her, ‘you should bring your kid to one of the local clubs.’”
