The contestants have completed their warm-ups for the women's 10m platform preliminary.

14 will dive for 12 spots in tonight's final and there's plenty of representation for the home nations with three divers for England, and one for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland each.

England's Lois Toulson took bronze in this event four years ago at the Gold Coast.

Australia's Melissa Wu and Canada's Meghan Benfeito who took gold and silver last time are not in the competition this time.

Geraint Thomas just went into the corner too quickly and he almost held it.

He just caught the foot of the barrier and that was amazing bike-craft. You could see he was looking to see if he could save it.

That will cost him in the region of half a minute and that's a chunk of time you do not want to give to Rohan Dennis.

    Men's time trial

Wow. Geraint Thomas had barely got going, but his back wheel slides out on a corner and he catches the barrier.

A huge shame. Can he refocus and try and pull back some of that lost time?

He's back on his bike and looks good to continue.

I think England's Dan Bigham is going to give it a go and has a good chance for a medal. This is a good course for him.

He likes it when the terrain changes and he knows how to get the ultimate out of man and machine.

    Men's time trial

At 37.4km the men's time trial course is just a shade under 40.7km route that Geraint Thomas faced in the penultimate stage of the Tour de France.

The only riders to finish ahead of the Welshman that day were Wout van Aert, overall winner Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar.

And G also finished ahead of his Ineos Grenadiers team-mate and world time-trial champion Filippo Ganna.

Assuming that Australian time-trial specialist Rohan Dennis goes quicker than current leader Fred Wright, this could be a nail-biting conclusion.

    Finally!

Northern Ireland's Paul McCreery and Zak Wilson win the final game 20-18 to see off Malaysia's Javen Choong and Qi Shen Wong in the men's doubles table tennis round of 64.

What a way to finish off the morning of table tennis. That was exhausting.

Scottish diver James Heatly told BBC Sport:

"I just wanted to be consistent with my dives and that was good.

"387 is good for the prelims but it was all about shaking off the nerves and I've done that.

"I'm not a betting man but the top group of us there do similar dives so it's going to be down to who does the best quality dives."

The atmosphere in the table tennis hall at the NEC is siginificantly more tame than the raucous weightlifting hall I was in yesterday.

But the smattering of fans are being treated to an absolute thriller.

Northern Ireland's Paul McCreery and Zak Wilson were 5-1 up in the decider against Malaysia's Javen Choong and Qi Shen Wong.

The Malaysians pulled it back to 5-5 and both pairs have been level on and off since 10-10. First to 11 wins but you have to win by two and it's now 15-14 to the Malaysians.

    Boxing quarter-finals

A superb performance from Ioan Croft of Wales takes him to a guaranteed medal in the men's welterweight tournament and into the semi-finals.

It's a second-round stoppage win as his opponent, Luwis Mbewe of Malawi, takes three standing counts before the referee has seen enough and waves it off.

Ioan will now be waiting to see how his identical twin brother, Garan, fares in his light-middleweight quarter-final against Merven Clair of Mauritius in about half an hour.

After two rotations at the Arena Birmingham - the hoop and the ball - England's trio of Marfa Ekimova, Alice Leaper and Saffron Severn are going strong.

England have not won a rhythmic gymnastics medal since 2010 but so far it's looking promising. However, this is only subdivision one and some of the big guns - Cyprus, Australia and Canada - will be out later in subdivision two.

Ekimova tops the overall standings so far with Leaper in second and Severn in fourth, with Scotland's Louise Christie nestled in between in third.

At the end of the preliminary rounds the overall leader is Australi's Li Shixin after a forward 3 1/2 somersaults in piked gives him an overall score of 388.70.

The home nations are lead by Scotland's James Heatly in second - just 1.15 points back of Shixin with England's Jordan Houlden third overtaking his countryman Jack Laugher in fourth.

At the other end of the standings it's a painful moment for Sri Lanka's Dunlanjan Kaushalya Fernando whose sixth dive receives just nine points after a complete miscue which didn't look comfortable at all.
