    Alison Waters and Adrian Waller are given a standing ovation at the University of Birmingham Squash Centre as they clinch a place in the mixed doubles final.

    The English pair, who won silver at this year's World Championships, got their tactics spot on in a 2-0 victory against Australia's Donna Lobban and Cameron Piiley, winning both games 11-8.

    They are now guaranteed at least a silver medal but will go for gold against New Zealand's Paul Coll and Joelle King in Sunday's final.

    Waller will also return later this evening for a men's doubles quarter-final.

    Li Shixin can only score 74.80 in his third dive which means Jack Laugher leads the Australian at the halfway stage.

    Jordan Houlden is currently in third just 0.05 points ahead of England team-mate Daniel Goodfellow.

    A big roar came up from the Team England contingent in the stands as Jack Laugher nailed that third dive. A huge score of 86.70 and that is much more like it from him.

    That should boost his confidence no end. The crowd went crazy when the score came up on the big screens.

    Laugher and the other home nations athletes are also being supported by royalty here tonight. Prince Edward is in the building.

    There is no hanging around in mixed doubles squash as England's Alison Waters and Adrian Waller claim the first game of their semi-final 11-8.

    Australian opponents Donna Lobban and Cameron Pilley were crowned world champions in 2019 but were outclassed at times in that opening game.

    It's the best of three for a place in Sunday's final.
