Gold medal - Bermuda - Flora Duffypublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    Women's triathlon

The reigning Olympic, world and Commonwealth champion Flora Duffy wins the women's triathlon.

Was that ever in doubt? The 34-year-old has absolutely streaked clear on the run and raises her arms aloft after collecting a flag of Bermuda as she crosses the winning line all by herself.

    Superb.

Defending champion Flora Duffy has a chunky 16-second lead after the first of two laps of the run course.

This is surely going only one way. Duffy is going to take her crown back to Bermuda.

Beth Potter of Scotland is in third by the way.

Georgia Taylor-Brown seems to be suffering in the heat. She is taking on fluids and pouring water over her shoulders. It is hot, warm and sticky in the park - the air is very still.

England's Georgia Taylor-Brown is sliding back and out of contention for gold here.

Flora Duffy keeps pouring on the pressure and the gap to Taylor-Duffy is up to around eight, nine, 10 seconds.

That transition was a bit unlike Georgia Taylor-Brown. She sat back slightly. You can't afford to give two bike lengths like that. There is a psychological advantage to starting the run in first.

She has had a steady start to this run, but I am surprised she has let Flora Duffy get these few seconds ahead of her. She is going to have to pick up the pace.

This is a straight shoot-out on the run leg.

Bermuda's Flora Duffy is four seconds clear of England's Georgia Taylor-Brown as the leading two get their teeth into the run.

Third-place Sophie Coldwell is 58 seconds back...

Defending champion Flora Duffy and World Series leader Georgia Taylor-Brown come in to complete the third of four laps on the bike.

The gap on the rest is big and growing. England's Sophie Coldwell, Scotland's Beth Potter and Canad's Emy Legault are fully 34 seconds back.

A 5km burn-up in store. We were denied a grandstand finish in the men's race by a penalty for Hayden Wilde. This has all the hallmarks of a stone-cold classic...

I liken Georgia Taylor-Brown's composure to that of Alex Yee. She got a puncture on the bike course at the Olympics but did not panic and was able to fight back in the run to get the silver.

I just can't call this now. It's too close and we know what a champion Flora Duffy is, but it will be really interesting to see how this battle with Georgia pans out.

Move made. Bermuda's Olympic champion Flora Duffy swings wide and pumps the pedals to shoot off the front of the five-strong leading group.

What have the others got? Beth Potter, Sophie Coldwell and Canada's Emy Legault can't respond in kind. Only England's Georgia Taylor-Brown can stick on Duffy's rear wheel.

The two favourites are out on their own at the front.

This is a group of heavyweight contenders. The medals might already be beyond the rest.

Scotland's Beth Potter is swimming sublimely, every arm stroke breaking the water like a cormorant catching a minnow.

Potter has two seconds on Flora Duffy and five on Georgia Taylor Brown as she comes out of the water.

Quick bit of the dressing-up race and Potter is quicker than a Britney Spears costume change. She has clear road on Duffy and Taylor-Brown.

Is she going to go on solo?

England's Georgia Taylor-Brown is introduced to the crowd and the grandstand's nuts and bolts rattle under the weight of the decibels.

Alistair Brownlee, double Olympic champion, is here to support, decked out in Team England kit. It looks like he is busting out his Gold Coast 2018 merch rather than this year's edition.

Think who much sports kit that man must have in his house. Absolute wardrobes full.

The gun goes. Not the cleanest get-away. A few of the athletes look a little confused by the quick gun after 'on your marks'.

England's Lewis Richardson put in a disciplined display to beat Wales' Harris Khan by unanimous decision and progress to the last 16 in the men's middleweight division.

The Colchester-born boxer, who picked up a silver medal at this year's European Championships, opened up a sizeable advantage in the opening two rounds of a physical encounter.

Khan's chances were not helped after he picked up an official warning from the referee in the second round which saw him deducted a point.

Richardson remains one of the favourites to win gold and will now face Uganda's Yusuf Nkobeza on Sunday for a place in the quarter-finals.
