    BBC Sport

Scotland's Neil Fachie talking to BBC Sport after winning a Scottish joint-record fifth gold at the Commonwealth Games:

"It's something I've spoken about for a while, as you can here my voice has gone. I've been quite ill and that made that all the more tough.

"But I was determined to win for Scotland, for my family, my wife and my baby to come. I'm just so, so proud.

"I came into this knowing it would take something super-human. I'm not getting any younger and I am having to get quicker, quicker - so kudos to the Welsh, and to our English counterparts."

Para-cyclist Neil Fachie has just produced a gold-medal winning performance on the podium, too.

The 38-year-old Scot, collecting his gold medal for the men's tandem B 1000m time trial, belts out Flower of Scotland with the gusto of an entire Murrayfield crowd before a big Six Nations match.

The warm glow of pride is emanating from his beaming face.

    What a picture!

    Women's hockey: Canada 4-0 Wales

It's not going to be Wales' day. Canada have just added a fourth through a mischievous deflection on the turn from striker Brienne Stairs following a penalty corner.

    Seven minutes remain.

Not long until the men's team final in gymnastics gets under way.

England are looking to become the first team to win three golds in a row. Champions in the Gold Coast four years ago, James Halland Courtney Tulloch, are joined by local lad Joe Fraser, the former world champion on parallel bars.

    Women's 4,000m team pursuit final

    Chris Boardman
Olympic cycling champion on BBC TV

Very disappointing from New Zealand with Ellesse Andrews pulling out so early - I think they could have made a fist of this with a four, and very hard to make an impression on a full strength Australian team.

    Women's 4,000m team pursuit final

After England pipped Wales to the bronze medal in the women's team pursuit, New Zealand and Australia scrapped it out for the gold.

New Zealand's Fab Four became a trio quicker than The Beatles did when George suddenly walked out of the Get Back sessions.

That made the task much more difficult and it allowed Australia to win in four minutes 12.234 seconds, a full 5.75 seconds ahead of their Antipodean rivals.

  8. Highlights: Duffy wins women's triathlonpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

There is a good case for Bermuda to hold another Flora Duffy Day this year.

The North Atlantic territory celebrated triathlete Duffy's Olympic success with a one-off holiday on 18 October last year.

Now she has got another Commonwealth gold too, after successfully defending the title which she won on the Gold Coast earlier today.

Watch our video above to see how she did it again in Birmingham.

Canada end the third quarter in style as Sara McManus slaps home a penalty corner to add a third goal.

Wales are now up against it with just 15 minutes left in their Pool A opener.

Lee Allen: Wow, that was one powerful interview from Laura Kenny, I had no idea about the troubles she'd been through. Makes her even more remarkable.

Before the race, Kenny spoke to BBC Sport about her return to cycling after suffering a miscarriage last year and an ectopic pregnancy in January. She was part of the England team who claimed bronze in the women's 4,000m team pursuit this evening.

    Women's team pursuit bronze

    Chris Boardman
Olympic cycling champion on BBC TV

England can be pleased with that - they didn't panic. They didn't put a wheel wrong.

Josie Knight was doing an individual pursuit here - she has spent so much time in front.

Track cycling - women's team pursuit bronze

"It's like a tug-o-war," says Chris Boardman on BBC comms.

England are heave-ing, Wales are ho-ing.

Tough one to call... but it is the English quartet who dig deepest on the final lap.

That's enough for victory and for bronze.

    Women's team pursuit

    Katie Falkingham

Laura Kenny is definitely a fans' favourite here. A huge roar as her name is announced.

She lines up alongside fellow Olympian Josie Knight and teenagers Maddie Leech and Sophie Lewis for England in the women's team pursuit bronze medal race against Wales.

    Women's team pursuit bronze

Many thought England - led by Laura Kenny - would be challenging for the gold medal, but the best they can hope for is bronze.

However, Wales are standing in their way...

Teams of four riders race over a distance of 4km. The winner is whichever team catches the other team, or records the fastest time over the 4km.

    Women's Hockey

    Kate Richardson-Walsh
Olympic gold medal winning hockey player on BBC TV

Here, Wales just stop. Wilkinson hesitates. Brienne Stairs is there to capitalise on that loose ball, early good finish into that side-netting.

  16. silver medal

Silver - Scotland - Aileen McGlynnpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    Women's Tandem-B sprint final

All or nothing for Aileen McGlynn... she's already one-down against Australia's Jessica Gallagher.

But it's not to be. McGlynn is beaten by +0.121 in the second race and there was a suspicion she would have been disqualified anyway for a misdemeanour.

Nevertheless it is another super silver for the 49-year-old, who wins a third Commonwealth medal of her career.

A moment or few before England's Sophie Unwin wrapped up victory against Scotland's Libby Clegg to win bronze.

  17. hockey

Canada double leadpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    Women's hockey: Canada 2-0 Wales

    Delight for Canada!

It's poor defence from Wales as captain Leah Wilkinson hesitates and Brienne Stairs steals the ball before slotting home into the corner.

Wales have been the masters of their own downfall so far.

Track Cycling - Gold - Neil Fachiepublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    Thomas Duncan
    BBC Scotland

Neil Fachie maintains his 100% record at the Commonwealth Games with a sensational gold. He looks absolutely drained, but delighted.

It's not been easy for the Aberdonian - he's had to move training venues constantly because of renovations at his base, and this success will be oh so sweet.

He's now level with Alex Marshall as Scotland's most successful Commonwealth Games athlete - with five golds.

The pressure was all on Neil Fachie and as he has done throughout his career, he delivered.
