  1. Scotland lose in 3x3 basketball openerpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    FT: Australia 21-9 Scotland

Australia have shown their power in their first Group A game of the women's 3x3 basketball, thrashing Scotland 21-9.

The result was never in doubt, Australia were electric from minute one.

  2. gold-medal

Gold - Scotland - Neil Fachiepublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    Track cycling - Men's tandem B 1000m time trial

    Scottish success!

A fifth Commonwealth Games gold for Neil Fachie - and that means he joins lawn bowler Alex Marshall as the most gold-dripped Scottish athletes at the Games.

It took a new Commonwealth record to do it, of course, after the gauntlet was laid down by Wales' James Ball.

Ball, who interestingly was piloted by Fachie's old pilot Matt Rotherham, takes silver.

England's Stephen Bate pockets the bronze.

    How it finished:

    1 Neil Fachie (Sco) 59.938

    2 James Ball (Wal) +0.115

    3 Stephen Bate (Eng) +2.338

Neil Fachie knows his way around these tracks. He's got more bling than your local jeweller - of Paralympic, Commonwealth and Worlds variety.

Off he goes... it's tight at the halfway stage. Very little between him and Ball's time...

  4. hockey

Wales behind at the breakpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    HT: Canada 1-0 Wales

Half-time and Wales look stunned. They've been the better side but see themselves behind at the break after Hannah Haughn's superb solo goal for Canada.

Wales had a penalty stroke saved in the first quarter with Sian French unable to beat Chloe Walton from the P-spot.

What a start - not just getting the time right but James Ball and Matthew Rotherham getting the start right - you can see the stretch and the strain.

What a ride. They can be pleased with that even if they just missed going under the minute. They were starting to fade, and understandably so after a start like that.

Track Cycling - Ball into the leadpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    Men's tandem B 1000m time trial

    A new Commonwealth Games record!

Wales' James Ball clocks 1:00.053 to storm into the lead.

What a ride! But will it be enough for the gold?

All down to Scotland's Neil Fachie - the last man to go...

    That's the big question, Katie.

Stephen Bate is guaranteed at least a bronze.

Now we only have the two favourites left to go.

First up is Wales' James Ball, who is a two-time world champion in 2017 and 2019....

One and a half seconds down to a second and a half up in the space of a minute.

Stephen Bate and Christopher Latham are endurance types - survive the start and then drive through the back end of the race.

A deafening roar follows Stephen Bate and his pilot Chris Latham around the velodrome. It's extraordinary noise.

They clock 1:02.276 to guarantee themselves a medal, but which colour will it be?

    Men's Tandem B 1000m time trial final

Wales's Alex Pope is the first British rider to go against the clock, crossing the line in 1:03.912.

That's enough to put him into top spot, only for Australia's Beau Wootton to beat him with a time of 1:02.824.

Next up is England's Stephen Bate. Cue a roar like there has been a last-minute winner at the Holte End.

    Women's Hockey: Canada 1-0 Wales

    Kate Richardson-Walsh

Because of the card and the corners, it feels a little bit against the run of play. Wales just need to reset themselves now and get back into their rhythm.

Canada take the leadpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    Canada 1-0 Wales

Canada take the lead in sensational style in the second quarter!

Take a bow Hannah Haughn. The winger picks the ball up on the byline, beats a defender with a deft piece of 3D skill before poking the ball over the onrushing keeper.

Well worth taking a look at this goal when the highlights drop.

Watching the track cycling events come thick and fast leaves you more out of breath than the spin class down your local leisure centre.

    Maybe it's just us.

Anyway... the next thigh-burner at the velodrome is the men's tandem B 1000m time trial final.

This event has a visually-impaired rider and sighted pilot riding together on a tandem in a race against the clock over 1000m.

Each bike takes turns to compete – the fastest finish time wins.

  16. hockey

Goalless after the first quarterpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 29 July 2022

    Canada 0-0 Wales

The first quarter comes to an end with Wales' Pool A match with Canada still goalless.

It shouldn't be though, Wales' Sian French saw her penalty stroke saved by Canada keeper Chloe Walton in the early stages.

Will Wales live to regret that early miss?

It's harem-scarem stuff in the tandem with almost a collision but Aileen McGlynn did all she could to make a race of it.

A little wobble there and everything takes a little longer to react.

    Women's Tandem-B sprint - bronze race

    Back to the track!

The first medal race sees a good old England v Scotland clash. Whether it is cycling, football or hopscotch, it always means something.

Sophie Unwin in the St George's corner, Libby Clegg in the Saltire corner... bronze medal at stake.

Advantage England in the first race of this best-of-three event.

Unwin whizzes over the line +1.164 ahead of Clegg.
