Wales' Emma Finucane has picked up two medals in two days, and she has been talking to BBC Sport after winning the bronze in the women's sprint:

"Obviously I was really excited to be in the semi-final, and then that final race because it was equal. I just had to really compose myself, nail my processes and I got the bronze medal. I couldn't believe it, I was so happy and proud of myself for how I did."

On whether she is living the dream at the moment: "I came into the Games looking forward to every event and taking each day as it comes and really enjoying the moment.

"I've never done anything like this before and to come away on the second day with another bronze medal is amazing. I've gone above and beyond all my expectations. I'm really pleased with this - it means so much.

"My coach is Becky James' sister Rachel, so she's been taking me under her wing in these games. It's really inspiring because obviously I look up to Becky as she's Welsh but there's a big group of us from Scotland, Wales and England.

"We all did really well in the team sprint yesterday and it's really encouraging and really exciting for the future."

Jamaica prevented South Africa from making a late comeback after they found a second wind in the final quarter.

But it was ultimately too little too late from the Proteas and the sunshine girls of Jamaica have all but put their name on the second semi-final spot with that victory.

Next up, world champions New Zealand face Uganda.

Scotland have won two bronze medals, starting with Neah Evans in the women's 3000m individual pursuit and followed by Jack Carlin in the men's keirin.

And Wales also grabbed a bronze through Emma Finucane in the women's sprint.

Australia and New Zealand continued to dominate in the velodrome, winning three golds and two silvers and a bronze between them.

But Trinidad and Tobago's Nicholas Paul ensured there was not an Antipodean clean golden sweep by storming to victory against Carlin and the rest in the men's keirin.

They are friends out of the pool and were gold medal-winning team-mates at the Olympics last year but Tom Dean and Duncan Scott go up against each other in the men's 200m freestyle final, which gets under way in just under 10 minutes.

Sophie Ecclestone's left-arm spin accounts for a couple of late wickets to squeeze the brakes further on a slow-moving Sri Lanka innings.

She finishes with figures of 3-25. Nilakshi de Silva top-scored for the batters with 25.

You have to fancy England making short work of this fun-sized total.

England's silver medal winner Imogen Clark: "What a race, I've never experienced anything like this before.

"It’s absolutely incredible. [On fans and Ben Proud’s win] 100%. It was great to see him win and hear the crowd, it was incredible."

The crowd enjoyed this. Hometown favourite Issy Wong strikes twice in the space of five balls, accounting for Nilakshi de Silva, who departs for 25 after miscuing high and handsome for Danni Wyatt to claim, and Anushka Sanjeewani, who is gone for two after tickling one behind to the keeper.

And just like that, a new Irish and Northern Irish record for Danielle Hill in the women's 50m freestyle, clocking 25.15.

That's enough to see her into tomorrow night's final as the sixth fastest qualifier.

That's the fourth Irish record to fall in these Games and we're only three races into the second night...

We've just had the two women's 50m freestyle semi-finals with England's Anna Hopkin second quickest in the first one and Northern Ireland's Danielle Hill third. Emma McKeon of Australia finished first.

In the second semi-final, Isabella Hindley of England finishes fourth with Shayna Jack winning it.

All are through to the final.

Women's artistic team final

Good solid vaulting from the teenage Welsh contingent as they post a team score of 39.100 with Mia Evans top-scoring for her team with 13.100.

Meanwhile, England will take to the uneven bars in their first rotation after Canada posted 37.950 on the apparatus. Georgia-Mae Fenton won gold in this discipline on the Gold Coast in 2018. Promising start...

England's gold medal winner Ben Proud: "Eight years ago I walked into this competition and took gold. Four years ago I felt that was taken away from me. I said to myself I’d be here four years later and that’s what's happened. I’ve come in and beat my Games record. I didn't expect to be emotional but it's been a tough one.

[On seeming more confident]: "I probably should've learned this years ago. I’m starting to understand myself and being in the moment. It’s starting to pay dividends, I've got an amazing team behind me right now. Marco and James have helped me get through a tough period. This is just my redemption. It’s a love-hate relationship at times, but right now I love it more than I hate it."

Danielle Hill is out to qualify for the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke finals, and she'll form part of NI's relay team too.

It is silver for Imogen Clark, not far off the gold too!

South Africa's Lara van Niekerk takes gold with 29.73 with Clark touching home with a PR of 30.02.

Australia's Chelsea Hodges secures the bronze.

Onto the next now with British champion Imogen Clark of England and Scotland’s Kara Hanlon going in the women’s 50m breaststroke.

England's James Willstrop, who celebrated gold medal success at the Commonwealth Games in 2018, is opening his title defence against Christian Navas at the University of Birmingham Hockey and Squash Centre.

Willstrop has made light work of his opponent from Gibraltar and the world number 25 moves onto the next round thanks to a 3-0 victory.

That will feel like redemption from Ben Proud after he was disqualified from the 50m butterfly four years ago.
