How about this for a stat?

Australia's swimmers have grabbed so much bling that they would be third in the entire medal table at Birmingham 2022.

    Men's 1m springboard final

    Katie Falkingham
BBC Sport at Sandwell Aquatics Centre

Huge cheers in the aquatics centre as they see Jack Laugher's name jump up the leaderboard.

With two rounds to go, can the two-time defending champion keep his composure to nail his final dives?

This was the dive that helped Jack Laugher in the prelims. Sensational again. A little nervous and maybe came out a fraction too early, but keeping that splash down. Well done Jack.

This is the dive that Jordan Houlden needs. A little bit of jiggery-pokery there to get the dive in.

It is tight as you like on the leader board.

Much better from Jack Laugher. It's 79.90 for the Englishman and he moves to the top.

Jordan Houlden is up next and a little error gives him 67.20. That puts him second, behind Laugher.

Now, what can the Australian Shixin Li do in response?

There is barely time for a chorus and verse of Gwen Stefani before the boxing resumes for the men's bantamweight quarter-finals.

Ghana's Abraham Mensah and Sri Lanka's Rukmal Prasanna are having a right old brawl in the NEC.

The winner will reach the semi-finals, where they could face Wales' Owain Harris-Allan.

England's Katarina Johnson-Thompson is back in the house as we get this evening's athletics session under way with the medal ceremony for the women's heptathlon.

KJT put in a superb display to take gold on Wednesday and is joined on the podium by Northern Ireland's silver medallist Kate O'Connor and England team-mate Jade O'Dowda, who won bronze.

With Denise Lewis, the Sydney 2000 Olympic heptathlon champion, part of the presentation party, that has really got the crowd going...

So here is how things stand at the half-way point in the men's 1m springboard final.

Jack Laugher probably didn't dive as well as he would've hoped but he is still right up there. His compatriot Jordan Houlden sits top with Australia's Shixin Li in second.

Scotland's James Heatly is not out of this race by any means but there is a bit of a gap starting to form between the top three and the rest of the pack.

    Alex Stadium

Never mind 'nosebleed' seats, Alexander Stadium's north and south stands are so high, you get the bends if you climb the stairways too quickly.

They have been extended skywards with scaffolded temporary seating to accomodate the Games. The capacity will drop from just less 30,000 to just less than 18,000 after the Commonwealths close.

If you are seated on the very top row you climb all the way through the alphabet on the way up, passing though A to Z, starting again with AA, before finally settling on row AN.

Your reward? A stonking one-off view, more rare than Perry's hoof clippings.

Tonight's action gets under way at 19:00 BST.

Just when you think things couldn't get any worse for New Zealand - a run out. Brooke Halliday was just going, Maddy Green tried to get her back but she was too far gone. Halliday at no stage put the brakes on.

New Zealand are in a right state - a terrible mix-up between the batters finds them both at the same end.

Brooke Halliday is run out by half a length.

    The crowd's loving this.

That was an important dive for Jack Laugher. It didn't go so well for him in the prelims and he really had to work really hard and bend himself into a reverse pike to get that dive in.

    Men's 1m springboard final

There is a huge roar from the crowd every time Jack Laugher takes to the board.

Oooooh, it's 64.000 for Laugher, he did not look too pleased with that one. It's his worst score so far but it still keeps him in second.

Jordan Houlden is up next and posts 60.000 - still enough for top spot for the moment but two slightly underwhelming dives from the England pair.

    Men's flyweight quarter-finals

    Michael Morrow

Jake Dodd goes through as a thoroughly deserved winner of a really entertaining quarter-final.

Dos Santos threw some beautiful combinations in the early round and was picking Dodd off as he came forward, but he couldn't keep up the pace allowing the Welshman to hunt him down and turn the tide in the second before taking over in the third.

    Men's flyweight quarter-finals

Another encouraging round from Botswana's Rajab Mahommed, but he doesn't get the knockout he needs.

Excellent performance from England's Kiaran MacDonald.

The spring in his step as he goes back to his corner tells us he knows he's won.

Confirmation comes moments later and allows the 25-year-old from Sunderland to formally celebrate.

A bronze medal - at least - is guaranteed. Wales' Jake Dodd will be the man trying to stop him going for gold.

Better from Rajab Mahommed in the opening stages of the second round. It had to be.

But England's Kiaran MacDonald finds his groove once again, regaining control to end the round strongly.

"Take the sting out of it," says MacDonald's corner.

Another unanimous round for the Englishman.

Mahommed is going to need a knockout if he's going to win it...

Nicely done Jack Laugher. After a bit of a wobble on the first dive he is back on track with the second one to post 76.50.

But wow, compatriot Jordan Houlden is enjoying himself out there, he's straight into his groove and gets 79.20 on his second dive. He remains top of the pile as it stands.
