    India's Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy got on a run of five straight points in that opening game and it proved to be a bridge too far for the English pair.

    Ben Lane and Sean Vendy had got off to a good start but errors started creeping in towards the end of the game and they lost out 21-15.

    The shuttle moves so quickly in the doubles games it's incredible that they can react and return it at such speed.

    It's silver for Sarah-Jane Perry and Alison Waters of England after they lose out to New Zealand pair Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy in straight games.

    The Kiwi pair defend the title they won in 2018, and it's a second gold of the games for Joelle King, adding to her mixed doubles win yesterday.

    Next up in the badminton, England's Sean Vendy and Ben Lane are targeting gold in the men's doubles against India's Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.

    It's been a dominant morning already for India in the badminton but the English duo knocked out the top seeds in the semi-final, so they should be coming into this pretty confident.

    They are ranked 19th in the world where Shetty and Rankireddy are eighth and won silver at the Tokyo Olympics, after losing to English pair Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge in the final.
