    Time for a little recap I think, after that flurry of medals.

    Here's what's been happening so far on the penultimate day of action at Birmingham 2022:

    • England's Matt Hudson-Smith won men's 400m silver before Victoria Ohuruogu took silver in the women's race and team-mate Jodie Williams won the bronze;
    • Cindy Sember won bronze in the women's 100m hurdles;
    • Scotland's Neah Evans won silver in cycling's women's road race;
    • England's Demie-Jade Resztan took silver in the women's minimumweight final and Kiaran MacDonald also won silver in the men's flyweight final;
    • Para-table tennis player Joshua Stacey won Wales' sixth gold of the ames after defeating Lin Ma in the final of the men's table tennis singles classes 8-10.

    The hundred is up for England but it's come in the 18th over and the very next ball Sophie Ecclestone is bowled by Sophie Devine for 18.

    Big two overs coming up for England to try and set as a big a total as possible.

    But Amy Jones is bowled at the start of the 19th over and she's out for 26.

    Victoria Ohuruogu and Jodie Williams are still trying to get their breath back as they stop to chat to Jeanette Kwakye following their respective silver and bronze medals.

    That hurt - but it was worth it!

    Matt Hudson-Smith spoke to BBC Sport following his men's 400m silver:

    "I went for the win but oh well. Got a silver in front of a home crowd. Disappointed but I can't complain.

    "Tightened up on the home straight. So probably could have done it a little different.

    "I can take the positives and the negatives. I came away with a medal - it's not the colour I wanted but you have to take the good with the bad."

    "I'm sorry I couldn't bring it home but amazing crowd, thanks to the volunteers, and it's been an amazing experience.

    "You got no excuses - in Diamond league we have to fill this (stadium) out."

    Women's singles semi-final

    Thomas Duncan
    BBC Scotland at NEC Birmingham

    Kirsty Gilmour had two match points, but Canada's Michelle Li finds something to level at 20-20, and then saves another.

    Gilmour puts a drop shot wide and suddenly it's Li who has a game point - and she takes it with a lovely delicate shot.

    Gilmour had the match in the palm of her hand there, can she respond again in the decider?

    'Victoria will improve when she runs first half more aggressively'published at 11:10 British Summer Time 7 August 2022

    Women's 400m

    Michael Johnson
    Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC TV

    Sada Williams was always going to be the class of this. She executed the strategy she expected to with a huge gap coming off the curb but Jodie Williams ran great and Victoria Ohuruogu left it late and was never going to catch up to Sada Williams.

    The improvement for Victoria will come when she starts to run the first half of the race a little bit more aggressively.

    Men's flyweight final

    It's not to be for England's Kiaran MacDonald, who misses out on the gold medal by unanimous decision.

    India's Amit Panghal upgrades the silver medal he won four years ago in Australia to a gold.

    Amit weathered the storm as MacDonald struggled after sustaining a cut to his right eye in the second round.

    The badminton players don't half chuck themselves around the court. Kirsty Gilmour flings herself low to her right but can't get a racket on Michelle Li's smash and hits the deck.

    The Canadian leads 18-17, but Scotland's Gilmour took the first game.

    Can she wrap it up in two?

    Muzala Samukonga, the winner of that extraordinary 400m, is still being tended to by Commonwealth Games staff in the aftermath of that superb final surge.

    The Zambian looked on very shaky legs and then appeared to trip as he tried to skip over an advertising hoarding to see his friends and family.

    He is eventually taken away in a wheelchair to applause from the fans.
